TLDR : Answer Summary
The cost of hiring an agent for a retirement visa in Thailand varies significantly based on location and individual circumstances. Estimates from community responses suggest fees can range from 1,900 Baht for DIY applications to 70,000 Baht or more for full service, depending on the specific requirements and services needed. Agencies like the Thai Visa Centre are frequently recommended, with various users sharing experiences of costs ranging from 25,000 to 80,000 Baht, depending on whether a bank account needs to be established or additional conditions are met. It's advised to contact multiple agents to compare quotes and choose one based on reviews and proximity to your location.

Having to do it all myself with the chance of getting rejected is not how i will proceed. 30 or 40 thousand is a small price to pay to have it all done in a short time

2 nd year onwards cheaper15 to 25k.

These are the TRUE figures. Don't listen to those who state under 30 k for the FIRST visa

you already choose where to stay in Thailand?? if you did, check google map, and find some agents with good reviews. Most of Thai agents care much of google reviews because their main customers are all foreigners.so most of foreigners check google review first. Find some agents in your area where you want to live first and ask them directly( all of them have email and whatsapp etc to contact.) And get some quotations from them. And compare the price and offers. And choose one of them. because agent fee is really different from locations and demands. The more foreigners come, the higher price. Also defending on your requests and situations and also the local immigration. Contact them, maybe 5 agents in your place, and take quotation and offers. And choose one, if possible, you can negotiate too. And see what will happen. Good luck to you.

that would probably be without the bank account option which they would charge extra. IMO, It's money well spent the first time around.

Des Dp Even you hire an agent for your extension, you need Thai bank account. And without your funds in Thai bank account, you also need Thai bank account. So regardless of using agent, you need Thai bank account. If you have no non o visa, you can not open a thai bank account alone. That is the difficulty for foreigners in normal case. That is why there is a service package all in one, visa , bank account, one year extension . So price varies but I think around

THB or something? but I heard, in Pattaya, cheaper than this.

Mate I'm in the same boat.

Best to do the NON-A visa online as it's cheaper than trying to get it done once you are in Thailand.

Maybe get a friend to help you out on the downloading part if that's not your go.

But again if you're happy to spend the money to get it done then go for it!

Not a stupid question. Are you in Thailand or home country? You’ll get different quotes from different agencies, best to call around and ask directly. The two I spoke with a few months ago in Pattaya were a fraction of what some are claiming here.

Apply through the Thai Embassy in Sydney or Canberra

Even if you get someone to help with the application

at home

It’s well worth it

You can do the application in stages , save it , come back to it , it stays live for up to 14 days

For over 50 years of age 100% easier & cheaper to apply for a Suitable retirement Visa from your home country through the Thai Embassy website ( All done online )

When you are ready to come - Apply for a Non-O 90 day single Visa from the Thai Embassy in your home country about 30-45 days before departure.

When applying online you will need to show the required funds in any bank account , some personal details & Flight details & proof of first weeks accommodation .

Once approved & arrive in Thailand you have 90 days to organise for the 12 month extension

No.1 requirement is

Within 2 weeks of arrival You need to set up a Thai bank account & deposit 800K Baht for at least 60 days to satisfy the extension

Go to the bank of choice & ask them what they require to open a bank account

You can also come to Thailand on a tourist Visa & get it converted to a Non-O retirement Visa for a much higher cost

The best advice is the advice given by the Thai Visa above or preceding. Visa agents are available for in the mid-low teens, 30,000 and above would have to be pretty unique circumstances. I don't work for those people, but reading their response, it's very good advice.

There are many agents.

One I have used and found them excellent is:

The Thai Visa Centre.

Ask for Grace.

She is very good to deal with with.

Or you can shop around.

I wish you all the best.

1900 baht to do it yourself, or anywhere between -20k up to 80k.

Hardest part is bank letter.

Got $700 spare dollars? Get an agent. With a little work and patience around $65.

Prices vary depending on the area, but having the money should be cheaper, I paid 15 the first time, that was to convert from Tourist to 90 day non O, then 7 for the year extension. They did all the paperwork. I just signed what was needed

James Mitchell including setting up a bank account on a tourist visa? You can't get a bank account opened on a tourist visa any more, but you need the account to do the conversion from the tourist visa to the initial Non-O. That's over by now. Assuming that he is using own 800,000 THB funds but on a touristic entry, we are talking about 60,000 Baht. Without own funds, we are talking about more than that for the first year
