As far as I know it depends on various factors. Dependent on weather your pension is from gov funds such as a military pension. Whether it meets uk tax threshold and whether it counts as funds from savings. You’d be better talking to a Thai tax expert.

Nothing has changed. I expect they’ll give notice before they change it, if they do change it. But this is Thailand so expect the unexpected.

You can apply for a retirement visa from many countries before you come to Thailand. It’s easy to do yourself and is online. You do have to show police and medical records. Check on the immigration web site at your countries Thai embassy website. You need the correct funds in your account as well. If you can’t do that for whatever reason then apply for a 90 day non o visa. Again easy to do online. Then apply in Thailand for the retirement visa. You’ll need to start by opening a bank account and moving funds into it. Thai Visa Centre are very good. They do most stuff online but you could visit them. Also Siam legal have an office near nana station. Thai Kru offer full packages including visa bank and accommodation. There are plenty of other options, You’ll have to ask about cost but probably about 20k bht including the visa cost. People will tell you that you can do it yourself in Thailand but I have no experience of that.

As far as I know you could either get a non o 90 day visa then leave and come back on a 60 day exemption or come over on a 60 day extend for another 30 then leave and return with another 60 days. There is talk of moving the 60 day exemption back to 30 days so not sure where that would leave you.

I think the short answer is of you want to stay long term get a long term visa with multi entry if needed or a single entry version. If you don’t have the necessary funds or meet the criteria then don’t expect to be able to stay long term. The days of multiple visa runs are long gone.
