Most banks will want you to go to immigration office and get a residency certificate. Not very complicated.

I flew to Cambodia where the hotel rooms are only $30 a night. I applied for the E online visa through the Thai embassy (non-o immigrant). Had to stay there two weeks, but it was very cheap. Returned with my Visa in my email.

I was in the same position when I came in January. Pretty much unless I used an agent I was not going to get a non-0 visa while I was in Thailand. I actually had to go to Cambodia and file for the E Visa online the day. I got there. It took Tuk 10 full business days so I was actually there for two weeks. Fortunately hotel rooms are ridiculously cheap in Cambodia.

seems to me Thailand is cracking down on agents providing the money which is technically a violation of the law. I would not want to risk being in a situation where I don’t actually have the money in an account that I’m supposed to.
