I wont' have 800k to keep in my Thai bank account, so to eventually obtain my residents visa, I intend to deposit 65,000b per month instead. I am a UK citizen. I will contact my old employer, Tate & Lyle, and ask them to pay that amount into my Thai bank account.

My question is : does my comapny issue me with some kind of certificate, and if so, who do I contact to get that certified to provide me proof of this income? Can I get it within the UK via the Thai embassy there, or from the embassy in Bangkok. I live in Chiang Mai.

Thanks.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring about how to provide proof of a monthly income in order to meet visa requirements for obtaining a resident visa in Thailand. They plan to deposit 65,000 THB monthly from their former employer's account. Responders clarified that the user is likely seeking a retirement visa (NON-O) and that for the initial visa application, showing monthly income won't suffice. The initial requirement is to have 800,000 THB in a Thai bank account for at least two months. They noted that the UK embassy can no longer issue income affidavits and the user cannot obtain certification from the Thai embassies in the UK or Bangkok for the income transfers Needed for the first year.

Better off to transfer the money yourself from your UK bank. Keep control. If one monthly payment is late, you have to start the whole process again. Same applies if one payment in 64,900 baht through currency fluctuations. It won't count

was there something specific about how the transfer needs to be labeled? I probably will do it through Wise.

, monthly income have to be shown as โ€œinternational transfersโ€

baht monthly works from the second year easily,I do not know how it should work for the first year

As Tod explained it only works for the first year as an Embassy income affidavit which is not possible for UK (and some other) passport holders

You're not talking about any "resident visa" you're talking about the visa based on being over 50 (retirement)

While you can get the initial 90 day Non-O visa from the thai consulate in your country by showing funds there in the UK you will not be able to get a year extension on that visa using monthly income by transfer to a thai bank account ๐Ÿ™ At least not for the first year extension you won't

The UK embassy here hasn't issued the income affidavit notary letter since end of 2018 <- and that was the ONLY letter you could use to show you get the money from the UK to meet the requirements.

Since that date IF you want to use monthly income you have to transfer in a minimum of 65k baht a month each month every month for the previous 12 months before you apply for a year extension.

As you can see because you need 12 months of incoming international transfers to get the year extension you can't use that method for the first year.

Nope, and no. You cannot

The first year extension you get inside thailand you would need to bank 800K baht in a thai bank account in your name only for 2 months before you could apply for it from a Non-O 90 day visa

@Tod ********
So get the Non-OA retirement visa;you can get the first year with 65k.

Then in Thailand a bank account, and 2nd year extension.
Tod *********
@Vin ********
that also requires the 100K USD mandatory health insurance ๐Ÿ™‚

@Tod ********
yes. That does not negate anything I said. ๐Ÿค”

Sorry, I mean't retirement visa.

@Stuart ***********
I knew that, and the answer I gave you is 100% correct, there is no documentation you can provide IN thailand to show you meet the proof of funds by monthly income other than having transferred in 65K baht a month, each month, every month for the previous 12 months

You have to use banked money method to get the initial 90 day Non-O visa in country and the following first year extension

Thanks Tod for your answer. Does it have to be exactly 65,000b as I have, for the past six months, deposited more than 65,000B, and if I continue to do that every month for the next six months, does that mean I can start the process in October 2025?
Tod *********
@Stuart ***********
you have to be ON the same visa you're going to apply for the extension for during the 12 months you're transferring the funds into the country

You can't do 12 months of transfers, then apply for the Non-O visa and year extension.

There's no way to get around using banked money method for the initial 90 day non-O or the year extension in country.

@Stuart ***********
65k is min, but as said if its your first application its 800k after that 65k but has to be shown for a year before renewal
Wannikea *********
@Stuart ***********
I believe that money has to be transferred while you are already on the Non O visa/extension, not before you get the visa.
Colin *********
@Stuart ***********
65k baht is the minimum for the way
@Tod ********
explained to you. It wouldn't need to be exactly.
