It is required to have 800,000 baht to be kept in bank for applying retirement visa, now money is deposited in saving account, anyone knows :

1. If money can be used to open fixed desposit account or called term deposit account in the same bank? (Retirement visa applied in Bankok now)

2. If money can be transferred to another bank, for example, Siam Commercial and then open fixed/term deposit account? (Retirement visa applied in Bankok now)

Thank you so much.

Deposit account

Hi guys, does anyone know of a bank offering deposit accounts where the money flows back to your regular account after they complete? Back in 2018 I was told by K-bank that this wasn't possible and that my physical presence in their branch was required to first receive and then redeposit the money to the right account to make that work. Quite unbelievable but that's what they said.

What is the process and considerations for moving ฿800k associated with a retirement visa from one bank to another to chase a higher interest rate.

Is same day generally ok?

Do I need both updated bank books and both bank letters for the next visa renewal?

I’m in Chiangmai.

Edit: Interest bearing fixed deposit accounts are available in Thailand and are perfectly acceptable to immigration authorities for visa purposes. I’m well aware of the balance requirements.

I’m certain people change banks. Specifically I’m looking for the procedure.

Hoping someone may be able to help. I have the 800,000 in a bank account which will just sit there for immigration purposes. At the moment it is in a savings account. I would like to move to a fixed account which will give a little more interest. The account would be at the same bank. But I am a little concerned as to how immigration would veiw this. If they see it as withdrawing all the money from the account it could mess up my next extension. Does anyone have experience of this.
