Banks? I live in Karon Beach. I just received my. Non-O immigrant visa. Next is to open a bank account. I assume it probably would be a branch in Patong.

Do people have a Bank to recommend?

Bangkok ? Kasikorn?

I guess I’m looking for decent customer . Also if I put ฿800,000 in there for a year, I would like to get some kind of return

at the end of my 60 days I flew to Cambodia and submitted the E visa online the evening that I arrived. It took 10 business days so two full weeks. But Cambodia it was so cheap. It was not a problem. I had great hotels for less than $30 a night. Getting into Cambodia you just fill out a form on an iPad and pay $30.

yes, he was very sketchy as to how he obtained it in the first place. Sounds like some sort of miracle?

You get little in interest. Bkk bank will throw in some health insurance. SCB are easy to deal with

SCB Easi Pass pays 2.5% interest…….

hey . . . the "SCB Easy Pass" is the SCB online banking App. . . . What you mean is called SCB Easy Savings Account
Michael *******
The name of the account is SCB Easi Pass, comes without a pass book, and a very user friendly online app, there is a small one page book which immig accept for visa renewal, but not the traditional passbook you update….very user friendly, made the switch 4 years ago……

If you "just received" your Non-O and you live in Karon then you'll need to exit and re-enter Thailand to activate it to use it to open your bank account

I received the non-O when I went to Cambodia for two weeks

@John ********
so you used it to enter and have a 90 day Non-O entry stamp, get a residence certificate from Immigration to open a bank account

a very good question. Myself I am wondering, too. If he applied for the 90-days Non-Imm-O by the e-visa system of his home country (which is possible if you got your ducks in a row, like the proof of residency) he has received the visa by Email. If that's what happened, he needs to exit and re-enter Thailand in order to activate the 90 days from that Non-O visa!
