Yep

. The Netherlands still have an affidavit at the Dutch Embassy in Bangkok. In Dutch it's called: 'Visumondersteuningsbrief'. They give it in Euro (month amount) and with us in Korat it is valid for 6 months
@Stuart ********
. What I remember there are only 4 countries that stopped giving them due to some privacy rules. Australia, UK, US and Denmark.

:

Oops, I think it's wise to go to the police first ? And maybe go to your Embassy for some kind of emergency passport/paper. I hope you made some copies of your passport/visa/ extension. Always good to have some "talking papers" I guess Or do you have a new passport already ? Good luck !

Okay
@Kr**
, but COULD you get a affidavit with amount of Euro's which after exchange is over 65,000฿ minimum income, the 800k is not locked, which can be safe should 'sht happen'. In my Dutch Embassy, I just have to send 2 months copy of my income (for me, it's pension) and 2 months copy of my Dutch bank account where that amount is shown as a deposit, to get that. But, since you are (only 😉) 50 soon, guess that it's more difficult to prove that >65k฿ comes in on a regular basis. Then ofcourse the 800k฿, although a little bit more paperwork than the affidavit, it's the way to do it. And no, the 800k฿ does not have to come from abroad. This is only needed when you want a non imm. O VISA (no extension) in Thailand.. Good luck !

, When having double amount (800k฿) in a joint bank account when married, thought that was also okay ? (pity to lock the money ofcourse, but thought it was possible to meet the conditions ?)

, strange indeed. A different something by the imm. office indeed I guess. I always use my affidavit (visumondersteuningsbrief it's called 🙄) from the Dutch Embassy. It is even valid for 6 months at Nakhon Ratchasima imm. Never had this problem with my year extension.

I think, when you come in on e.g. a non imm o visa (based on retirement)
@Paul *********
. After 2 months you make the 1 year extension with re-entry permit. Then after 4 months (so about 6 months in Thailand already) you leave. After 6 months you come back with the re-entry permit , wait 1 month and apply for the year extension again with re-entry permit. After 5 months (again 6 months in Thailand) leave. After 6 months come back and apply again for 1 year extension with re-entry permit. After that you have a timing issue, but also 2,5 years further. Just a thought ?

@Mic****
; I heard it too conc. Insurance. Also heard that it doesn't have to be a Thai one with the exact amounts. You maybe can avoid the requirement with just going to y'r imm. office before sept. 1.

Most imm. offices allow you to ask the year extension 30 days before the old one expires. Ask y'r imm. office because there are imm. offices which allow you to ask 45 days before. I read it sometimes happens the imm. office asks to return with only a couple of days left.

Many times I read this question
@Colin *****
. A return ticket is not much more expensive than a one way. Many times you can ask a refund on the return part if you not use it. Had a return ticket with EVA Air which was about 50€ more expensive than a one way. I was almost sure I did not use the return trip because I wanted to stay in Thailand permanent. Asked the refund, and they gave me 150€ back. So at the end, the total was 100€ cheaper than I had bought a one way ticket in the first place. Ask the refund policy of your flight company !
