Hi Tod, Robert, I'm a bit confused with a Multi Entry Tourist visa for 6 months. An acquaintance from Germany, living in Austria and got this visa in the consulate in Insbruck got 90 days stamped in ?! Went to poipet, (lot of hassel by the way) and got 60 days stamped in. That seems ok to me. He want to stay 2-3 weeks more so he will go to 'our' immigration office in Korat for a 30 day extension.
My question: Was the 90 days stamped in at arrival a mistake ?? I thought you only got 60 days when arriving. And then can have 2 times an extra 60 days with out/in at the border. I read this 60 days on (thai embassy) websites from different countries.
Thanks for clearing this up.
TLDR : Answer Summary
The acquaintance received an incorrect 90-day stamp upon arrival in Thailand with a Multi Entry Tourist visa, which should only grant a maximum of 60 days stay before needing an extension. If he hopes to stay 2-3 weeks longer, he plans to apply for a 30-day extension at the local immigration office. It's suggested that he should confirm the stamp since overstaying could lead to penalties, but as long as he now has a correct 60-day stamp, he should be fine.
