What is the procedure for legalizing a certificate of income for a Non-OA visa renewal in Thailand?

ORIGINAL POSTER
My yearly Non OA visa-renewals are backed by a certificate of income (pension) granted by my embassy (luckily the Austrian embassy still does them). Now Immigration tells me that it has to be legalized by the Thai foreign ministry (they always keep us on our toes, don't they?). I never had to do that before (3 years). I already got an appointment date on their website. Has anybody done that already and could give me some details about the procedure? And by the way, is that usual or only some bullying by my Immigration (Kanchanaburi)?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses the requirement for legalizing a certificate of income for a yearly Non-OA visa renewal in Thailand, which is a new procedure for the user despite having completed the process successfully for three years. Other commenters share their experiences, indicating that such a requirement may not be standard across all immigration offices, particularly noting variations in procedures. The user's inquiry focuses on whether this legalization is typical or an unusual demand by the Kanchanaburi Immigration office.

, strange indeed. A different something by the imm. office indeed I guess. I always use my affidavit (visumondersteuningsbrief it's called ๐Ÿ™„) from the Dutch Embassy. It is even valid for 6 months at Nakhon Ratchasima imm. Never had this problem with my year extension.

Which immigration office? I have never needed to do this for the income affidavit. Due to Thailand (as well as China) not being a signature to the Hague convention legalisation of documents is a pain.

No doubt following their Chinese Paul's ideas. China wanted EVERY document notarized and apostilled in the country of origin and then sent to the Chinese embassy to be "legalized" by them. Since Thai and Chinese embassies/foreign offices have no access to overseas accounts, police records, educational institution records or employment records all this is is "jobs for the boys" for kids of the hi-so's who need something to justify their post.
