Can I Request a One-Year Extension on My Non-Imm O-A Visa Before It Expires?

Hi all.

Normally you can do a border bounce when reaching the end date of a non imm O-A visa for an extra year of stay.

In these times not possible.

So if you have money 400/800k in place for 2 months (or affidavit if relevant) and all documents for meeting the relevant requirements, can you ask for a year extension anyway e.g. a month before it expires ?

(Think no mandatory health insurance because the visa was issued before 31st oct. 2019)

Thanks !

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses the possibility of obtaining a one-year extension on a Non-Imm O-A visa, especially under current restrictions that prevent border runs. Commenters clarify that to qualify for an extension, the applicant must have 800,000 THB in a Thai bank account or an income affidavit, and that mandatory health insurance is required as this is considered a new extension of stay.

Please keep advice on how to stay legal. We all know there are ways to live inside Thailand as an illegal alien but that is a personal choice.

Note it is 800,000 baht in a Thai bank account in your name only. Readily accessible money ๐Ÿ’ฐ

Don't think so. I thought 'the 4 countries' only can do banked money OR the proof of 12x enought income (40k or 65k)

Because I'm Dutch I can also use 'the combination method'.

And when you are maried (and have all documents). Then it's 400k.

yes, but it is 800.000 Thb in the bank or the income affidavit from your Embassy.

Yes, you need the mandatory health insurance as you apply for a NEW Extension of Stay.
