TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks advice on traveling to Thailand with a one-way ticket, acquiring a Non-O visa based on marriage, and the financial requirements for obtaining that visa. They inquire about the possibility of applying for a longer stay if necessary, how to manage the funds in a Thai bank account required for the visa, and whether they can show pension income as proof of funds.

, you always can do a border hop/bounce to Cambodia, Laos or so, and come back for a exempt entry of 30 days (From 1st october probably 45 days), and extend it again with 30 days. You can do this only 2 times by land border. Or go for a visa run, which is buy a visa again in a Thai Embassy or consulate in the mentioned countries. But a bit more stress these border hops/bounces/runs. Also depends how far you are from a border. Otherwise you have to fly in 🤷‍♂️

Good luck !!

When you come with a 'visa for 90 days' (e.g. Non imm. O based on retirement or marriage), you don't need an onward ticket so one way is okay. It's many time a problem with the airliner as
@Stu***
says, when you have no visa (visa exempt 30 days) or a Tourist visa (60 days).

1. Possibly but probably not. Your airline may deny you boarding without an outward ticket. Buy a changeable ticket or Google “onward ticket” services.

2. If you are married by that point you can apply for a 60 day visit Thai family extension. If not you can’t.

3. The source of funds for the 400k for a marriage extension does not matter. You can deposit it to your future wife’s account and have her transfer it when you’ve got your account set up.

4. If after the first year you opt to use the 40k each month transfer method the funds would need to be seen to come from abroad. You may be able to use a embassy affidavit for funds for this but as I don’t know your passport country I can’t advise on that.

Yep

. The Netherlands still have an affidavit at the Dutch Embassy in Bangkok. In Dutch it's called: 'Visumondersteuningsbrief'. They give it in Euro (month amount) and with us in Korat it is valid for 6 months

. What I remember there are only 4 countries that stopped giving them due to some privacy rules. Australia, UK, US and Denmark.

Not sure on The Netherlands. UK, USA and Australia definitely don’t. Canada does. Some Dutch people on here may be able to clarify, or email the embassy in Bangkok and ask.
