Overstay for children advice:

We’ve run into a bit of logistical situation regarding our 4yo passport- his passport just passed the 6 month validity mark (meaning still valid, but only 5.5 months left) and we were planning on leaving this week, however we were just notified that although the country we are going to only requires 3 months of validity, the airline requires 6 months and can refuse boarding. So we are left with 2 options- apply for emergency passport or apply for a new passport but my son will then be overstaying his time in Thailand. My husband still has 3 weeks left on his 30 day extension, and myself and the youngest could technically do a visa run, so it would only be the 4year old that is “overstaying”. The processing time at the US embassy is roughly 3 weeks so we can assume he’ll be around 3 weeks overstaying, give or take a week or so. Has anyone had experience with this? Will we be charged the 500baht/day for his overstaying or is that only charged to adults?

Thank you for the help!

Anyone have any information about overstaying (missing the 90 day report date) and having to extend? Got my dates mixed up and can’t do my 90 day extension. The immigration officer at the information desk recommended flying out and back in, but I’m on an emergency passport and would rather not risk it.

SO, anyone else miss their 90 day and have to extend manually?

Looking for recent experience -- we were just unable to renew my husband's visa because he only had one passport page left (US passport), and apparently that page is reserved for "special endoremsements." The US consulate's website says (in many places) that they will not add pages and the only solution is to renew his passport by sending it to the embassy in Bangkok, which takes 4-6 weeks. His visa expires in 2.5 weeks. Has anyone successfully gotten an emergency passport or extra pages added in this situation (recently)?

Does anyone know how long it takes to get a new US passport? My retirement visa extension is due in 24 days and I'm worried I won't have a new passport in time.

Urgent Advice Needed – Lost my passport but i have some scan copies...

Hi all.

Unfortunately, I lost my passport today, and my 90-day Non-B visa is set to expire on March 23, 2025. I arrived in Bangkok on January 8, 2025, and my company is planning to extend my visa to a one-year work permit.

Could you please advise me on the necessary steps to take? Specifically:

Can I still extend my visa under these circumstances, or will I need to apply for a new one?

Are there any urgent actions I need to take before my current visa expires?

I appreciate your guidance and look forward to your advice.

Best regards,

So, I messed up. My non-O visa runs out on November 7th and while I have been otherwise approved for a 1-year marriage visa extension, I don't have any pages left in my passport.

Okay, I actually have 3 pages left, but they all say "Endorsements" in tiny letter on the side of the page and apparently you can't use those for visas...despite two countries already using half of one of those pages for visa stamps...regardless today Thai immigration told me they can't use them.

Am I screwed? The US Embassy website seems to say that a lack of pages is not a reason for an emergency or temporary passport, and they don't add pages anymore.

I can't apply for a new passport here in Bangkok because my visa will run out long before I get it.

Did I fuck up so bad by not knowing about these final three pages in my passport that I now have to leave my wife just before her birthday, my condo that I have a contract for, my prepaid Christmas plans, and go home for months while I sort out a new passport? Is there no other solution?

UPDATE

After some difficulty, I was able to make an appointment to renew my passport (usually done through mail only) and I will have the chance to state my case for an emergency passport (usually not given in my particular case) so I can get a visa stamp and stay in the country.
