Urgent Advice Needed – Lost my passport but i have some scan copies...
Hi all.
Unfortunately, I lost my passport today, and my 90-day Non-B visa is set to expire on March 23, 2025. I arrived in Bangkok on January 8, 2025, and my company is planning to extend my visa to a one-year work permit.
Could you please advise me on the necessary steps to take? Specifically:
Can I still extend my visa under these circumstances, or will I need to apply for a new one?
Are there any urgent actions I need to take before my current visa expires?
I appreciate your guidance and look forward to your advice.
So, I messed up. My non-O visa runs out on November 7th and while I have been otherwise approved for a 1-year marriage visa extension, I don't have any pages left in my passport.
Okay, I actually have 3 pages left, but they all say "Endorsements" in tiny letter on the side of the page and apparently you can't use those for visas...despite two countries already using half of one of those pages for visa stamps...regardless today Thai immigration told me they can't use them.
Am I screwed? The US Embassy website seems to say that a lack of pages is not a reason for an emergency or temporary passport, and they don't add pages anymore.
I can't apply for a new passport here in Bangkok because my visa will run out long before I get it.
Did I fuck up so bad by not knowing about these final three pages in my passport that I now have to leave my wife just before her birthday, my condo that I have a contract for, my prepaid Christmas plans, and go home for months while I sort out a new passport? Is there no other solution?
UPDATE
After some difficulty, I was able to make an appointment to renew my passport (usually done through mail only) and I will have the chance to state my case for an emergency passport (usually not given in my particular case) so I can get a visa stamp and stay in the country.
I have lost my passport and the earliest I will get my new one is mid April. My multiple entry Thai visa requires me to extend for 30 days from the 18th March. But with no passport I assume I can’t do this. I applied for an emergency passport so I could leave in time but they won’t issue me one as it’s just to keep my visa. They will only issue to send me back to the UK.
If I overstay until I get my new passport will I be blacklisted for future visas?
I have a young person under my care from the UK who has had her passport stolen, the photo page ripped out, then anonymously returned. A new passport has been applied for but the issue comes with the thai visa.
She entered with a Non-O volunteer visa which must be extended to the full year this December. As she has a damaged passport, this cannot be done. Immigration have said they will not give her a temporary extension until the new passport arrives, and said she must pay the 500b overstay fine every day until her passport arrives. The passport will take around 4-6 weeks making this fine extremely high.
Anyone have any suggestions on what we could ask immigration to encourage them to take pity on her and provide a temporary extension to avoid having to pay the fine? Also, she can’t leave the country to wait it out as she has no ID to travel and needs to be here to collect the new passport in person anyway.
Hi Thailand Friends - I’m new here and hoping someone can help. I‘m an American traveling on USA passport. I just realized I’m dangerously low on blank passport pages (down to 3) and have travel plans in the next 6 months that will fill those pages completely.
I know that I need to apply for a passport renewal and that I can do this at Bangkok USA Embassy, but my question is about timeline (how long it takes) steps to the process, can I still travel while I’m waiting, etc.
I’ve reached out via email and phone to Embassy trying to find the specifics and have had zero luck. Thinking someone here might’ve been through this and can help?
