Can I enter Thailand on a 30-day permit and then apply for a tourist visa without leaving the country?

If you have your TR visa approved already you will be stamped in with that first if the visa is in your passport.. if you have a E-visa well then you don't need to show but after the 30 days you would have to leave and come back in and show the E-visa to be stamped in for 60 days

I been here 5 times since August last year each time staying 4 weeks each visit and 6 weeks at Xmas time

You can get a 60 tourist visa and extend 1 time for an extra 30 day at a cost of 1900baht . However it is only a single entry only .

You can but you can run the risk of being caught out and about and being arrested . And have a ban of up to 5 yrs .

Not worth Not paying 1900baht in my opinion

I don't understand what you mean indicators on wrong side? .

Here in Australia we have cars with indicators levers on the left and cars that have them on the right .
