I got my E-Visa in November and went to Tha Bo in the Nong Khai province in order to open a bank account. That's where I stay with my SO. The biggest problem I ran into was the banks had never dealt with an E-Visa, and they had a hard time understanding that it was the long-term visa needed to open a bank account. Two banks said if I got a Thai driver's license they would do it and even after I got the license they said that wasn't good enough. They needed a certificate of residency from immigration. Nong Khai immigration won't do that unless the bank requests it, the banks say they can't request it. I even had the COR from my driver's license (copy) and they said they needed the original. I finally found a wonderful lady in Si Chaing Mi at Krungthai bank that made it happen. I hit every bank I saw in Nong Khai and Tha bo and finally got lucky. Just a heads up for those in the Issan area wanting to open a bank on the E-Visa. Krungthai only accepts wise transfers of 49,999 baht at a time, so that is a pain as you can transfer up to 1 million at a time to Bangkok bank.
DTV visa approved in Hanoi - Self-employed digital graphic designer (also day trading but thought to not mentioned it and apply with the simplestt option)
They will move to E-visa (may take longer to approve) but hope this post will help you regarding the docuemets anyways
* The funds was deposited into Krungthai bank same day as printing out bank statement (*2 days before appointment*) - the bank was opened in May, so it wasn't 6 months statement but also submitted Revolut along with it - The staff asked to open Krungthai bank app to show her the 500K is still in there the day of my appointment
* Got the bank certificate + notarized from the bank just in case (200Baht)
* Been in Thailand already almost 2 years- 1st year tourist + boarder run - 2nd year non-Ed
Document
1. Cover letter - mentioned self-employed - approximate income monthly- ability to work remote - keen interest to be staying in Thailand while working
2. 3 quotations + 3 invoices + 3 paid slips from the past work
3. 3 letter verification of services from last 3 customers (matching with customers from No.2)
6. Letter of relationship and financial support from my parents (don't forget to show birth certificate showing they're your parents - I forgot but the staff was ok with it)
8. Condo rent contract in Thailand + The owner Thai ID card + Tha bien ban
* Total of 55-60 pages of paper
* Try to be patient when submitting the paper work. Don't speak if they didn't ask - organize the pages according to their document requirement from A-Z.
Try to make everything easier for them, they will appreciate it. They deal with a lot of nonsense and people who showed up unprepared all day. I can't image the stress they faced on the daily basis. Be calm and be respectful, and they were very nice back to us.
* They speak perfect English
* Submitted on Monday 23 September -went to pick up passport 26 afternoon (the email came eventually but I already went to pick up my passport before that)

Hi, I’m living in Bangkok on a retirement visa keeping the required THB funds in an account with Krungthai bank. I am considering opening an interest bearing savings account with Bangkok Bank but am concerned whether having my required funds split across two banks, including a fixed interest account, will present an issue with my visa renewal next year?
One requirement for any long term VISA seems to be a bank account. I understand this can be difficult, and different banks and branches, depending on location, may impose different requirements. To anyone who has recently opened one, what are some things they are requiring now? Which bank was it? Are there any banks I should avoid completely? Thanks everyone!!
Hello dear community, good afternoon, I have a question, which bank is the best and easiest for open account including mobile app, transfer and etc) , I have one year stamp and work permit, thank you for your response 🙏🏽
I use the combined method of income and small balance in Thai bank for my retirement visa. Around 750k per year income and a floating 100k per year in Krungthai. My income is from my Superannuation fund.
My question is.
Does the approval go on the previous 12 months financial history ? Or is it based on what you present as funds from home for the next 12 months ?
Reason being for my question is …. I have enough in my Super to get me through to December… at which time my Australian pension will kick in. But I am unable to substantiate the forthcoming Australian pension with a document saying so.
I’m guessing that the answer will be … may vary to the scrutiny of which officer or office.
Just preparing for renewal next Thursday 21st April.
I am on retirement visa (over 60) and have been here 5 years. Thinking of changing to marriage visa (been married 3 years) which is a simple process and I understand the difference in the 800k and 400k. I am with Krungthai currently.
Is it feasible to open a "secondary" bank account either with Krungthai or even another Bank and deposit 400k in it and just leave it there permanently for the purpose of IO financials every year even though there would be no "in or out" activity on that account ?
