The community discusses the current travel restrictions, quarantine requirements, and the feasibility of using New Zealand as a stepping stone, considering the pandemic's impact on travel plans and visa applications.

Well that's what I'd do then. Go to New Zealand first.

I personally wouldn’t plan a visit just yet. We’re going through a spike in locally transmitted cases and the situation will change rapidly. We will probably see inter provincial travel bans and maybe lockdowns to curtail the numbers. Probably will change daily at best.
Don't worry I've looked at the Thai consulate in Sydney website and now it seems you don't need to show exemption as part of your application for TR visa .. but yes I'm not coming now . I was planning in July /August

You'd have to go to NZ first and apply from there for the COE as you'd be leaving as a NZ resident, which an Australian citizen can be. There may be a time limit on residential status

I wouldn’t be in any rush to get to Thailand if I was you. Let this all settle

Just do the 14 day quarantine mate

Hugh Kirton. It's nothing to do with quarantine. Tony is looking for a way out of Australia. It might be that NZ has opened the door, as Australian citizens have automatic right of residence in NZ. My question is if there is a time limit on how long he needs to be in NZ to call himself a NZ resident
ya I spotted that, the game of chess is moveing fast a 🙄

I would stay where u are at the moment Thailand seems to unfortunately had a bit of a surge in cases as Aus an nz have had but they are now on top of things I personally would wait a while
it's very hard to get exemption these days from Australia. But Australia has a bubble with New Zealand from the 19th but New Zealand don't have restrictions to leave their country
