What is the best and closest country to fly to that does not require a visa for someone from the United States? How long should I stay until flying back to Thailand?
I've done a lot of visa runs, extensions, including land border runs in Laos and Myanmar. But I've been mostly living out of Thailand for over a year, but still visited and extended. When I use this passport I get asked what I'm doing in Thailand. Should I not get a DTV until I get a fresh passport? Or is this not a problem?
I have a DTV and am using a land border run company to go to Cambodia. I actually have been in Thailand less than 90 days on a visa, but I am planning to exit because I did not get a visa for my young child, who entered visa-exempt. I did not get the DTV for her at the same time I did because I don't plan to use the DTV much longer than a few months at a time. I am using the land border company because it is the most efficient way to get a new entry stamp. However, I've been informed that the border agent has never encountered a DTV visa and will charge an extra 1500 baht for an entry stamp for 180 days. Their reasoning is that an entry stamp for a longer period should cost more than the base fee . I objected to this but the visa company says they cannot override the border agent's decision. I may just overlook this as unfamiliarity with new visa and pay it to avoid any problems. Just looking for advice on this or advice on if it is even a good idea to get a new 60-day stamp this way.
I am looking to relocate to thai early next year. Atm if I can prove monthly income of $3000 a month though I may have the 500,000 thb saved up before then but if I don't before I need to leave is the $3000 monthly sufficient ? to get a DTV VISA ? And I researched it's validity is 6 months at a time. Is visa runs legal ? Let's say I go to Vietnam for a few days and return to restart a new entry ??? Please advice
Hi everyone! This is my second time asking something here, and I’d love to hear your thoughts or experiences about taking the risk of re-entering Thailand to get another two months (Colombian passport holder / visa exemption).
I’ve been here for almost 4 months now. Last month, I left the country for Vietnam and returned without any issues—my passport was stamped at Chiang Mai airport, where I’ve been living and working remotely. My current stamp expires on January 23, but this time I don’t plan to extend it.
Instead, I want to visit Bali for a week, leaving on January 18 and returning to Thailand after that. Do you think I could be denied entry? This would be my third entry into Thailand, but only the second time leaving for a nearby country and coming back.
I’m worried because I have my things here in my apartment, and if I’m denied entry, I wouldn’t be able to retrieve them. My rental contract ends on February 9. Would it be a good idea to carry my contract or any other documents to show if needed?
I have no bad history, and honestly, this would be my last entry into Thailand before heading back to my home country.
Thanks for reading, and Merry Christmas!, special greetings to Brandon and Jan you guys are amazing.
We went to samui immigration and got the extension in 10 minutes.
We stayed in Thailand from late October 2023 to mid-April 2024, based on visa exemptions, extensions and two border runs during this period. We re-entered Thailand on November 8th, 2024 at BKK Airport, we were questioned and asked for a return ticket. We showed a return ticket for 60 days later. They further told us that we did a visa run with stamping out and in on same day earlier this year and that we should not do this again. (We did this with a visa agency.) Eventually we got stamped in until January 6th. Now, in Koh Phangan, immigration is refusing to extend our visa due to a remark in the immigration system about the return ticket and that we have acknowledged the visa run. They say we must leave. Has anyone else faced this? Can we try Samui or another immigration office? Any advice appreciated.
What’s peoples thoughts on the DTV stopping applicants if there’s too many being processed?
Should I just do a visa run now and do DTV in 3 months or would you do one now. My visa expires 27th and a lot of public holidays etc and not a great time for us to travel with a baby for a long processing time.
Question: I'm visiting Thailand beginning of 2025 on a visa exempt..planning to stay 1-2 months, after which I want to fly to another Asian country and spend there one week before returning to Thailand for another couple of weeks (so another visa exempt).
Could this possibly be problematic upon flying back to Thailand? I've heard stories that entering Thailand twice a year on a visa exempt is not always granted anymore since the introduction of the DTV.
