TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring about the possibility of overstaying their visa in Thailand for 2-3 days without facing severe consequences. Multiple responses from the community emphasize that while it is possible to overstay, it carries significant risks, including arrest, deportation, and a ban from re-entering Thailand for several years. The recommended course of action is to get a visa extension from the local immigration office for a fee of 1900 baht, which is safer and avoids the overstay penalty of 500 baht per day. Additionally, overstaying can negatively affect future interactions with immigration authorities, both in Thailand and the user's home country.

One thing not mentioned about overstay is the reaction of immigration in your own country upon return. The overstay will be noted in your passport. I unavoidably overstayed several days some years back and spent over 2 hours being inspected, searched and questioned by immigration officers back home. It's not an experience I wish to repeat.

It's a bad idea to intentionally overstay for the reasons stated; trying to buy your way out of trouble.

Maybe ask yourself this question....would you be happy with a foreigner intentionally doing the same in your country? 🤔

for sure i would be happy. Every nation has a similar policy. It's a great way for govt to extract revenue. And it's all smiles at the overstay payment office in BKK.

Your fine would be 1500 baht plus an overstay stamp and if caught before jail just pay for the 30 day extension

Good luck

The risk of being caught by the police is through random stop and search, vehicle checkpoints or when police stop by the hotel you are staying at and ask to see the photocopy of your passport you provided for reception. Thereafter detention and deportation, likely not using the ticket you had already booked. Plus all the ban stamps. You will be escorted to the plane in the clothes they caught you in, such as swimwear. Your luggage has gone.

1500, and an annoying note on your PP, that may come back to bite you if you come here a lot....just pay the 1900 forv30 day xtra

You can overstay as long as you want, just don't get caught. You can swim back to your country when you already decided to get out of Thailand.

3 days overstay is 1500 baht fine and risky overstaying as well better to pay 1900 at immigration as others wisely advised to avoid the risk of being arrested and getting the overstay stamp in your passport.

Take the advice of the Three Wise Men above. What many people do not realise is that overstay is actually a criminal offence in Thailand, so it's not to be taken lightly. Some will play it down and tell you they've done it a dozen times - and maybe they have - but one day it might come back and bite them, because it stays on their immigration record

I would highly recommend you get an extension from your local immigration office if you're able to. Being on overstay carries risks of arrest and deportation. And even assuming you make it to the airport you are going to be fined 500 baht per day so the additional cost of extending is negligible.

You should never overstay.

There's no Thai embassy inside Thailand, that wouldn't make any sense.

If you have a tourist entry that's eligible, you can apply one time for a 30 day extension at the immigration office. The price is 1900â‚¿

You can but you can run the risk of being caught out and about and being arrested . And have a ban of up to 5 yrs .

Not worth Not paying 1900baht in my opinion
