I made a post a few weeks back about the steps I went through to get an eVisa in the UK. It was approved by a mod but was almost immediately closed for comments. The reason given was that is was too UK specific. This resulted in one or two angry faces posted and 3 different members reaching out to me via PM to ask more questions which I then had to answer individually.
I understand the reasons for closed comments if clear and complete answers have been given or if people get off topic in the comments. My post was quite comprehensive in detail. However, I think in this instance it would have been useful to allow the opportunity for further questions/input before closing. People don't want the hassle of going through mods to request a re open of a closed post and often pm's can be missed. Not criticism in any way Ellie π, just something that could be considered, especially in this instance as there are tons of Brits who visit Thailand on TR visas.
A SETV is Β£30 to buy. For me, because I'm tight, I would rather go to another country after 90 days (60 days on the visa and a 30 more day extension for 1900 baht ~Β£45) and buy a second SETV OR come back into Thailand on a free Visa exemption that gives you 30 days +30 extension for 1900 baht (Β£45 at current exchange rate).
The eVisa system also states that you have to give good reason why you wish apply for a multi entry tourist visa.
I'm not sure what the 'correct' answer would be to satisfy Royal Thai Embassy in London to issue a METV. π€
OK Tod, thanks for the info, I'm glad I asked here.
Assuming that I could try get the extension in the first year with the 65k THB per month banked, what would be the alternative, apply for a Non O in my home country? What would I have to show in terms of finances to apply in the UK for a 90 day Non O?
I am a resident of New Zealand also and have a bank account there and in Australia. Would I also have the option to apply for a Non O in one of those countries? I have no desire to go back to the UK again any time soon, if I can help it!
If from a country that doesn't provide an affidavit and the money (40k/m for marriage extension or 65k/m for regular Non O extension) is transferred in every month for the previous 12 months, does it have to sit and stay in the Thai bank account untouched or can it be used for monthly living expenses, spent on 'stuff', invested elsewhere, withdrawn as cash and put into a different Thai account and transferred elsewhere?
