I have a British passport SETV which expires on Saturday 10 March 2018 and I plan to do a border crossing at Mae Sai and come back in the same day. Is it still currently possible to do this and get a 30 day visa exempt entry back into Thailand, also without proof of onward travel out of Thailand?
I have done a search and I know that the rules change quite frequently. I also see that I can pay 10USD at the border crossing into Myanmar.
I have not done a land border crossing in Thailand ever before.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses the feasibility of a British passport holder crossing the Mae Sai border into Myanmar and returning the same day to receive a 30-day visa exempt entry into Thailand. It highlights that currently, no proof of onward travel is required for the crossing and that there is a fee of 500 baht or $10 USD for the border stamp. It also mentions the importance of not having exceeded two 30-day visa exempt entries by land in the same year.
Currently the Mae Sai - Tachiliek border with burma requires no proof of funds & no proof of onward travel. It's 500 baht or a crisp $10USD to get stamped in&out of burma.
As long as you haven't done TWO 30 day visa exempt entries by land this year you are fine to border-bounce at the Mae Sai - Tachiliek border with burma for a 30 day visa exempt entry.
