Hi, we are an Australian couple who usually live here for 3 months a year. Due to current ‘world climate and costs’ we want to stay an additional month. We have never done a visa run. This week in Phuket but from next week Khao Lak. Land boarder options are Malaysia or Myanmar (closer to Khao Lak but more risky???).

Any experiences/advice?

We think Malaysia is best?

🙏

Just a quick question regarding a 60 day Visa exempt trip. During the 60 days, would you be able to exit Thailand to visit Laos or Myanmar and then return the same day/following day, without any re-entry issues?

Has anyone recently gone to Ranong then crossed into Myanmar for their 180 day extension? We are going to be in Chumphon so only 2 hours away, so thought it would be nice and easy. We have our own car,so we'd drive down, drop off the car and hop onto a boat, ideally coming back the same day. I've been in and out 5 times so far on DTV and not had any problems, but that was flying. Also how much should this cost me?

Hi, can anyone tell me if the Ranong to Myanmar crossing is operational at the moment? Do I just show up, and negotiate with the boat owners? What is the going rate to use an agent? Any agent recommendations? Thank you 🙏

Is Ranong the only option for border run in Myanmar? Mae Sot and Mae Sai still closed? Any other usable border crossing?

Hi there.. Just a quick update. We extended our METV for 30 days today at Bluport. Too busy yesterday so we got there at 9.30 this morning, along with a few others. Immigration opened 20 mins early and we had everything completed by 11.00am. Record! We know need to leave the kingdom by the 29th January and are definitely considering driving to Ranong and catching the ferry over and doing it by ourselves. ( For our 60 day visa to be activated). Will this be simple enough to do? Is it worth it spending a few nights in Myanmar or just getting our Visa and having a little break back in Thailand. Thank you.

Posted this on another local group But thought I’d ask here as have had good assistance here before… i was asked recently by visiting friend in bkk who is here now, if you can do land border crossing at Chiangsean border since maesai border been closed to tourists now for weeks due to “unrest” happening there 😔

Has anyone crossed here recently? Im getting mixed consensus if only for ( local/ non foreign) crossing

Any other suggestions for a quick land crossing border?

Firsthand experience, appreciated

Thank you in advance👍🏼
