My name is Christian and I’m a married father of 2 kids (10 and 6 years old).
We might intent to relocate to BKK next year from the UAE where we live and work today. My wife and I are 41 years old and have a German passport, UAE residency and UAE tax residency not paying income tax at all.
Once moved to Thailand, we will live off passive income
My questions:
- What kind of visa could we use?
- Is DTV an option?
- can we apply for a guardian visa for my kids who will study at an international English speaking private school in BKK?
- how to minimise or avoid Thai income tax legally ?
- can you recommend a good visa law / tax consulting firm?
I have been on paid administrative leave since February 1, in a DOGE deal to retire September 30 (thank you US taxpayers!) I have not worked since February but receive full pay and benefits. I will have all my O-A visa paperwork ready next week. I will arrive BKK October 25. I don't see anything that says I must already be retired. Consulate says "This type of visa may be issued to applicants aged 50 years and over who wish to stay in Thailand for a period of not exceeding 1 year without the intention of working. Holders of this type of visa are allowed to stay in Thailand for 1 year. Employment of any kind is strictly prohibited." Do they mean working in Thailand? I'd like to submit my package early September but maybe I wait till Oct 1?
Looks like might be getting a job where I can work from my laptop and not go to the office ever, I want to move to Thailand (have British passport). Am not yet 50, is there any visa I can do this with?

Hello! Trying to figure out the best way to come to Thailand on SSDI. I am 35 years old. I have 85k USD in savings and get 3k a month. Can I go the workation route? I'm scared that if I go the Muay Thai or learning to cook route. It will get back to Social Security and I will lose it. Appreciate any guidance on the matter!
I want to move to Thailand for a year or two on a trial basis before applying for the DTV 5 year (if it truly becomes home)
What would be my best options for 1-2 years in Thailand? I would like to freelance and potentially work for and with Thai businesses while I'm living here.
I see a lot of options but I hope you lovely folks can help point me to the best options for my requirements.
