Fingers crossed in hopes that Thailand does not reciprocate.

IF you make it to the airport without being arrested you will just pay a small fine and continue your trip. If, on the other hand, you are caught on the way to the airport (and I was once on a bus which was stopped on the road and everybody was forced to show their passport including the entry stamp) you will be taken to the Immigration detention center - I understand that it is a very depressing place to be.

I think that you will quality for a top O visa rather than O-A, which can only be issued outside of Thailand. The advantage Type O has of O-A is that medical insurance is optional, and less paperwork for you to deal with.

Go to your nearest immigration office and get a re-entry permit. Now that you are on permission to stay by means of, retirement your 90 visa is void. You have extend your stay in the month prior to the expiry date on your retirement stamp.

Just hand your passport (Which should have the visa already in it) to the nice immigration officer. The officer will then put the appropriate stamps in your passport and hand it back to you.

You might have misunderstood what the bank wanted. Think about it: How can they charge a 7,000 baht fee when other banks only require a small deposit when opening an account?

If they say "No" (mai-die) just go on over to the next bank. Repeat if necessary until you get what you want. The bank branches here interpret the rules as they understand them, though understandings differ.

Easiest for me is to just go to the desired telephone company office and buy it there. 7-11 stores have difficulty filling out the form that registers the SIM with the government (usually done with a Thai ID card) but must be filled it manually when copying information from the passport.

Maybe you don't have the patience it would take to live here.

It is OR. After you get to Thailand, go to the nearest immigration office and ask what THEY consider proof of income in your case. (Seems to differ by office)
