Moving to Thailand next year, but I cannot decide on where to call home. My elderly father is coming with me, so we want to be near great hospitals. Cannot decide between Changmai (burning season worries me) and the burbs of BKK. Any input?
Has anyone received a response to their email or phone calls recently? I haven't received a response from them for over a week, and they're not answering their phones.
yet again I have another question, it's not visa related but about retirement in the great country of Thailand, it's really for all you older gentleman out there, I've been put on high blood pressure tablets and the important question/ advice is how easy is it to get your medication over there, anyone with the same issues please message and tell me how you got on, thanks everyone,
Is a return flight required on the TDAC with a DTV? I had been in the country on a DTV prior to that taking effect. I've just returned to the US and will be going back to Thailand next month. I saw it was not a required field on the form but wasn't sure if anyone had problems with just a one way ticket.
What is the best health insurance here in Thailand ? I want free hospital and around the world. I get a offer from PRUDENTIAL. 72.000 baht. I am 61 years old
This comes up a lot in the comments. Please do add or correct, but this info is correct based upon my own personal experience:
TagThai Pay&Tour
- Prepaid credit card
- Can only be loaded at (I think any) Kasikorn Exchange kiosk. (I did in Samui.) Contrary to some comments I've seen, I was able to do with THB, did not have to actually exchange currency.
- Cannot pay Personal accounts with QR code, so that's most small restaurants and shops out.
TrueMoney
- Top up by cash at any 7-11, Lotus, and various pay points.
- Some people have completed the additional verification by uploading a copy of DTV visa and entry stamp under the work permit section of documents. That then allows payment to personal QR codes.
- It's also handy for paying Electricity and Water. (Keeps the history.)
- I have not been able to top-up by credit card since additional verification, but others claim this is possible.
DeepPocket
- CAN pay personal QR code
Load by credit/debit card, cash at BigC or Lotus.
- Pricier fees than the other two.
- (Was recommended to me by a friend who's an expert in payments, so seems to have solid backers, but I'm not personally endorsing this or anything else.)
* Moreta Pay
- Can connect to US bank, do SEPA transfer, or UK Faster Payments, or credit/debit
Hi, not visa related but I will give it a go. So need to get a new UK sim but am in Thailand atm. Current sim will apparently not work after 3 months (told by EE day before i flew here). What I thought was to ask friends in UK to send Lyca mobile sim here but just googled and must activate in UK first. Any idea's what I can do. I only need sim for accessing some bank accounts. Thanks.
