I need to apply for a DTV (Destination Thailand Visa) for medical treatment in Thailand and I kindly ask you to help me clarify some doubts, so as to avoid my application being rejected:
1)"Applicant should not apply for visa more than 3 months before the date of intended arrival."
The regulation says that I cannot apply more than 3 months before the date of intended arrival in Thailand. This means that, if I want to leave in August 2025, I cannot apply yet, right? If today is March 8, 2025, I can apply for a visa with a maximum departure date of June 8, 2025, correct?
2)"Financial evidence: amount of no less than 500,000 THB, e.g. bank statements, sponsorship letter."
Is a letter from the bank stating that my balance is more than 500,000 THB okay?
3)"Document indicating current location."
Is a proof of residence with my Italian address sufficient? Or do I also need a copy of my ID card?
4)"Proof of confirmation to attend the activity or letter of appointment from hospital/medical center."
Is a medical certificate from the hospital stating that I need to undergo medical checks for at least six months valid as documentation?
5) Hotel/flight reservation.
In the DTV visa application I do not need to attach any proof of hotel or flight reservation to Thailand, right? Unlike the 60-day tourist visa, for the DTV you only need the documents listed above, correct?
I just got my DTV approved today. I used to live in Thailand before and have a Thai drivers license (which expired this Jan). Can I apply for a new one with DTV?
Has anyone applied for a DTV visa at the Royal Thai Embassy in Chennai, India? Regarding the bank statement requirement, does it need to show a closing balance of 500,000 THB, or should the account consistently maintain 500,000 THB for the past six months? Please share your experience.
I feel like my situation might be slightly different, so sharing it and hopefully people find it useful.
Ive been running a side hustle while working full time for the past 2 years because it’s not sustainable on its own yet. I explained in my cover letter that im looking to make a career change, quit my job and work on my business fulltime and it worked! (Also stated that I have enough savings to sustain me ofc).
Documents:
- bank statement (my bank does 1 statement for every 6 months)
- utility bill (proof of address)
- cover letter
- company registration
- remote working letter created myself. (Also specified that the company doesn’t operate in thailand and will not employ any Thais)
Has anyone gone through the process of applying for a visa via the Thai E visa system from Laos? Any info on the processing time or whether there's maybe a better way to do it these days? 10-15 days processing time seems a bit too long to be hanging around up there. Thanks in advance.
I currently have a study visa and have been in Thailand for 8 months. In 4 months my study visa will expire. I meet the requirements for a DTV visa. What should I do? Can I get the DTV visa myself or would it be better to get it from a consulting firm?
Hello, my daughter is currently on a training scholarship at Thanyapura Sports Resort in Phuket. They originally had her enter Thailand on a non-ed immigrant visa (I think is what it was called). She had it extended and was in Phuket about a year and a half. She traveled to a competition in Europe in December and as the paperwork for her contract renewal was delayed, she ended up on overstay for a couple weeks; she paid the fee when she left. She now has a US passport - originally was on a Micronesian passport as she's dual citizen. Thanyapura had told her to go to Laos and apply for the DTV, which she did, but she was denied. They said the reason was lack of 500,000 in her account, though the training resort had provided a letter for her to confirm her financial support; the resort said that's all she needed, but apparently they were wrong. We are at a loss now as to what visa she should apply for. Her current contract is for a year. She is back in Micronesia and the e-visa site says US citizens applying in Micronesia must apply online through the Beijing embassy.
Any suggestions as to what visa she should apply for? Or should she just return on visa-exempt? Or is it a big risk of being denied entry because of the previous overstay (though on a different passport)?
Just thinking ahead.. So if I purchase a Platinum visa card with an aditional family member we are looking at around 2.5mil thb. The question here is.. Do we need to re-apply after 10 years and pay the same fees? Many thanks
Hello, seeking advice on obtaining a non-immigrant O visa, as I want to retire here. I've been researching some myself, but only making marginal progress.
I'm American, over 50, single, currently living in Bangkok but want to relocate elsewhere in Thailand in the next few months.
Currently here on tourist visa expiring March 4th but can extend 30 days. I do have a rented condo and TM30
I have been receiving documented retirement of about $1500 for a few years, which is over 600k baht annually. If I understand correctly, I need to deposit @ 200k baht additionally to a Thai bank account to bring the total to the 800k total. I have not been able to open a bank account yet. I do have other assets in savings in an American bank.
Given my circumstances, what should I do? I don't mind parking the 200k in an account, especially since it doesn't have to be there 12 months each year.
