A question about the Non-Immigrant O-A visa. It seems to be too good to be true. At least according to the Thai Consulate in Munich you need to be over 50, show a PENSION income of at least 65,000 baht monthly (currently €1700) OR 800,000 baht in a bank account HERE in Germany. Plus you need medical insurance and a certificate from the police. They say this allows multiple entries and stays of up to one year PER ENTRY.
This seems to be too good to be true. Meaning you’d just have to get this visa once and you could come and go and each time and stay up to a year. Or stay permanently and do a visa bounce once a year. There seems to be no time limit. No lining up at Immigration to get extensions and multiple re-entry permits. Do I understand this correctly?
I’m considering this visa because banks are reported to be cracking down on accounts held by foreigners who don’t have long-stay visas.
Asking for Canadian friend who’s been on Non -immigrant O-A for 6 years with consulate visa letter for extensions based on income . Can she convert in country to non -O based on retirement and show the 65,000 monthly income ? Or what’s the best advise for her ? Thank you
Hi, with non-immigrant O-A visa (aka retirement visa) , can you travel out / in Thailand as many times as you like, or are you required to get some "re-entry permit"?
After a lot of thinking I come to the l that the Non-Immo O-A is possibly the best for the first 12 months but I am still uncertain about the following:
As I understand, the O-A METV, applied through the Thai Consulate, has no „waiting period“ like the Non-Immo O extension of stay (which comes with the 90 day visa).
Instead the O-A becomes valid with the first entry into Thailand if I am not mistaken.
Can I apply for an O-A and the necessary health insurance in a few weeks but only enter Thailand a few months later (obviously health insurance has to match my date of entry) or do I need to enter as soon as I receive the Visa?
I ask this because I have my criminal record paper already but prefer to enter Thailand between August and October
