Please stop spreading such misinformation. While some aspects are not fully clear not - i.e. what documents qualify for proof, the general mechanism of the DTV visa is very clear as stated in the law text (which among other things I previously shared). It is a 5 year MULTIPLE entry visa for 10k THB. And within those 5 years you can enter Thailand as many times as you want for up to 180 days - without needing to reapply or to pay another fee. Like every other multiple entry visa works.
The processing time for the DTV is really up to them - as it does not require other, centralized institutions or ministries to be involved, as far as I understand it. Sounds to me as if they themselves are also not sure / well enough informed yet about what exactly to accept as proof regarding the requirements. Other consulates mentioned they were informed the same day the public was about the launch. You are in for a bit of an adventure on this one. But somebody is gotta go first. 🙂
Ok. Interesting. All I see is that they shared the launch of the new visa measures on their FB page. Did they mention to you what exactly they would require you to present as proof of sufficient funds and to either meet the remote working or the "soft power" requirement? Cause most consulates have not even figured that out.
once the visa is issued, you can take whatever flight you want, take any airport or even any land border. Visa is not bound to your originally mentioned entry. That was only the care during COVID when quarantine was required.
We don’t know yet if the DTV will be available outside to your country of nationality or at least residence. The next days will tell if it will be possible to just go to one of Thailands neighboring countries or not.
It is illegal to work without a work permit. But a work permit is only available when working for a Thai registered company or a foreign company registered in Thailand. There is no work permit for working remotely for a company abroad. Thus, the charge of working without a required work permit (which would be the offense) cannot be applied. Theory aside: There is hundreds of co-working spaces with tens of thousands of people doing remote work in Thailand. If it were illegal, it would be easy to pursue. Yet, not a single case is known. From my understanding it is just an unregulated gap in Thai law. Gray area.
