Can STV (Special Tourist Visa) holders get a 60-day COVID extension of stay?

To all STV (Special Tourist Visa) holders: Has any of you ever gotten / or be denied a 60-day COVID extension of stay based on / while holding a STV? And at what Immigration Office?

Background of this question: So far nobody seems to be aware of cases either way. And with the cutoff date for STV extensions coming up end of this months, it would be good to know for planning purposes. So, let’s put this rather bis group to good use sharing real experiences.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion centers around the experiences of holders of the Special Tourist Visa (STV) regarding obtaining a 60-day COVID extension of stay. The original poster seeks real-life accounts from others who have either successfully received or been denied this extension. Notably, there are no clear reports or confirmations about the acceptance or rejection of these extensions at various immigration offices, highlighting potential inconsistencies in the application process depending on the officer or location involved.

the policy of STV just updated about 1 week ago. Before the update, no STV can renew after end of Sept. with the new policy now, the deadline extended to Oct 2022, mean any STV not yet finished with 270 days can apply the renew of 90days.

@Peter ***
at Bangkok, they chenged into covid now, not really understand they are allowed to come with stv but not extend it, better come with free visa and change here easy than stv and safe

if your STV not yet finished with 270 days, you can renew STV. The STV renew deadline change to Oct 2022.

There is no reason for me to lie as this is a piece of advice that can help the expats who are here when someone is facing the same problem with my friend. I work in a law firm and as a consultant. So I don't need to give erroneous information. Because I'm the one who checks the immigration for my friends. which Stv's renewal policy has changed. and he was able to extend the covid visa then my friend got 60 days I'm not here looking for new customers. I'm only here for new information or knowledge about work. That it

my STV. 270 days finished and apply for 60 days covid extension visa. I got an stamp under consideration and need to see the immigration at 2O Oct, to finalize the stamp of 60 days. The immigration is pattaya Jomtien . They don’t need the proof of can’t fly.

I'm calling bull on this comment. There is nothing confidential about extension of stay stamps. Good luck though.

his comes with STV after 3th July and the immigration not allowed to extend other 90 days, they said waiting until end of September his visa finished at 6th October and the last Friday immigration called to get extend 60 days. I can't post on his private without permission. If you wanted to make sure call or go and check at immigration, because when we asked we called them too.

Can your friend post a picture of this stamp? I have not seen any credible proof that anyone is able to get a 60 day extension of stay based on COVID-19 from a STV yet.

After seeing numerous postings about any and all kinds if visas and extensions I’ve come to the conclusion that everything depends on the immigration office or officer you apply with. So it all seems like the military catch 22 to me.

@Wilmont *****
Each immigration office is free to decide on it's own policy. It's how Thailand operates. I don't see how it's a catch 22 at all. If you want to know what your immigration office requires, ask them and they'll tell you.

If you're American, it's no different than asking how to get a driver's license. The answer would be "ask the local DMV office in your State". It's worthless giving information how the State of Oregon gives a drivers license if a person is from California.

My experience as well. Highly frustrating at times. But, oh well.

What this poll is asking is people who got a 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19 from an STV. This is the Special Tourist Visa that allows a person to stay for 270 days.

IF you answer yes, PLEASE provide:

1. The immigration office you used

2. The paperwork you submitted

3. Proof that you actually HAD an STV (NOT a 60 day TR visa) with the confidential information redacted, and got a 60 day extension of Stay Based on Unable to Travel Due to COVID-19.

4. Your Nationality

I have seen no proof either way that any immigration offices are issuing these extension of stays or rejecting these stays. Every time someone claims to have a 60 day extension of Stay Based on Unable to Travel Due to COVID-19 from an STV, it's either:

A. From a 60 day Tourist Visa (and not an STV)

B. They disappear and stop talking or block me.

If you can post the information above, I would be really happy, and we'll be able to know exactly if it's possible..

Thank you!

but he has no vaccine yet. He unable to travel to another cities for another officer now. He bought vaccine Moderna in hospital and vaccines are expected to arrive at the hospital around November

Also, was an STV visa with all extensions used up. The officer really did not want to give the 1st 60 day Covid extension. Maybe won’t do the 2nd

The officer is always right. But he is also wrong 😉 COVID extension have at no point ever been limited to only those unable to leave Thailand. There have been regular international flights out of the country throughout the whole pandemic. Just being somehow affected by some covid restrictions or inconveniences has been enough for thousands of successful applicants before. Next time talk to another officer or another office, is what I would do.

very common request. You need either a letter from the embassy saying you can’t return or a letter from the embassy saying they won’t issue the letter or a screenshot from the embassy website saying they won’t issue the letter

@An *******
Which nationality / what embassy? Just write an email to your embassy asking for a letter. They will send you a reply stating that they are not in the business of issuing such letters. This email will then do for Thai Immigration.

my husband got Covid-19 visa 60 days today because he has no vaccines and unable to travel but the officer told to him that no more, next time, around November he must prove the letter from embassy or cancel flight if he want to extend Covid visa. Today exhausted
Benjamin ******
@An *******
is this for a 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19?

@Benjamin *****
