Can I extend a temporary Thai driving license to a regular one with a DTV visa?

Just wanted to report that I managed to extend a 2 year temporary Thai driving license into a regular 5 year Thai driving license based on holding a DTV visa today in Chiang Mai. Wasn‘t sure they would let me. Happy they did - as I was growing tired of getting a new license every 2 years.

Normally you get a 2 year license, then automatically 5 years when you renew, that's what happened to me anyway

Only, when on a long-term visa. Otherwise you would just get another 2 year license.

I would think 5 years is a long term visa, or is that looked at differently?
