The conversation discusses the details and requirements of the Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) for Thailand, covering its eligibility for tourists versus those intending to work or study, financial obligations including a required bank balance, and the process for visa extensions. Participants also compare the DTV with other visa options such as Non O visas, particularly in terms of length and requirements for financial stability, while seeking clarification on documentation needed to prove current location.
so.. for folks who’ve filled out for the LTR or other visas that have financial requirements:
can a screenshot of the money in my account hold up or does it really need to be a statement that shows an ending balance of 16,000 USD (in the case of the DTV)?
like… if I pull 3 thousand from my friend and screen shot will that work or will I need at least 16K in my account long enough to get a monthly statement attesting to the fact that my ending balance was 16K?
Yeah. Not sure why. But it is like this for many years. Since the E-Visa system they ask for this with every visa application. Maybe, because it has got the current home address in Germany printed on it.

OK, wollte immer schon mal einen Kochkurs machen. Die Frage ist ... Für die 5 Jahre einen Tag oder Jedes Jahr einen Tag
Some can. Non O-X is 5 years - can even be extended to 10 years.

So it costs ฿10k for 5 years, and must have ฿500k in a bank account, but it doesn’t have to be Thai account and doesn’t have to be for a specific length of time.
Visa for 5 years, can enter on day 1, get extension at 180 days for unknown cost. At end of year, do a quick trip to another country, start your second year in country. Does this sound right?

From what I understand the extension is 10k baht but you can do 180 x 10 border bounce instead of 180 + 180 days extension + bounce repeat 4 more times. Less costly to bounce every 180 days.
I doubt the Thai authorities would let DTV holders live in Thailand pretty much continuously for 5 years (unless they really want the extra $10,000 per extension).
So, a single 180 day extension every 5 years is what I think the visa rules will be (though I hope I’m wrong).
I can't get my head around it, I'm on a retirement 1 year extension. Would the DTV be more beneficial or not. Less monies required, but it don't explain what you need to keep it valid. The retirement ext. You need to always have at least 400k then bump it up before renewing to 800k. This is where the DTV might be better. But I don't know!!!
An extension costs 10k baht. But what if I leave after the initial 180 days and re-enter let's say 5 month later. Do I have to pay or I am just getting the initial 180 days again?
it's also not clear that the extension will be 10k. I know there was talk of that when it was announced but every other extension is 1,900, regardless of the type or duration. It could go either way but I suspect the extension will be 1,900 same as everything else.
That would make no sense though, since it’s valid for 5 years. Why pay so much for a 5 year visa when you could just do 2 visa exempt entries with extensions and get 180 days for a lot less ฿?
