Please check before commenting. Whatever you ask, and whatever OP would kindly answer, Unless you are applying for exactly the same category through the Royal Thai Consulate-General, Chicago, that information could be irrelevant to your next application.
If you want to ask about DTV at different locations or different categories even through Chicago, comment on the active DTV post by Tod Daniels, not here.
Also, check your embassy in Thailand whether they issue an affidavit of income for you. You can use it as proof of funds. If they don't, you have to open a bank account in Thailand and transfer funds to it 2 months before you apply for a 1-year extension <- This is what you need to check with the provincial requirements.
As you will enter on a single entry Non-O based on being over 50 (retirement), you will be stamped for 90 days upon entry into Thailand.
Then you will apply for a 1-year extension for the same reason (retirement) when your stamp remains 30 days or less (some immigration offices allow you to apply for an extension when you have 45 days or less remaining). Once you get a 1-year extension, you apply for a (multiple) re-entry permit to keep your extension when you travel out from Thailand. You can keep repeating the process every year as long as you meet the requirements.
You need to meet all requirements including financial, accommodation, etc, on the day of application.
This is the general information for retirement extension. You better go to the local immigration office as soon as you arrive here to get the latest requirements at that office, as detailed requirements vary by office.
Official fees regarding to the immigration office are:
extension: 1900 baht
re-entry permit: 1000 baht for single re-entry, 3800 baht for multiple re-entry
, as I said, depends on your plan, no should or should not from others. It was not obvious to me as I know some people who need to travel frequently almost every couple of weeks. Those are the people who want multiple re-entry permit even for a month.
Anyway, you seem to get your answer. Good luck with your plan (y).
You can apply for a re-entry permit, single or multiple, anytime, when your application for your extension is accepted for under-consideration, or after getting a whole year stamp.
The re-entry permit has the same validation as your current stamp. If you are on U/C, your re-entry permit will have the same date as the U/C stamp.
You can see the reason why we always say that provide all details including your nationality and where (which embassy/consulate/immigration office) you apply for what you want.
Please consider again before posting, not only OP, but members who want to comment.
, now I see the reason. okay, my comment was not enough. They don’t issue multiple entry non-o to foreigners who don’t have legal residency in Malaysia. They issue only single entry Non-o based on being married to those.
