Hi everyone,

Thanks for accepting me in the group.

Like many of you I'm also retired, I plan to apply for a three month retiree visa before I come to Thai, once I'm here I would like to have a multiple entry retiree visa, for one or better more years. Can you tell me what steps I have to take to achieve it and how much cost ? Unfortunately I'm not a millionaire. Thx.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking guidance on obtaining a three-month retiree visa upon arrival in Thailand, with the aim of obtaining a multiple-entry retiree visa later. Commenters provide advice on the process, noting that the user will receive a 90-day stamp upon entry, followed by the ability to apply for a one-year extension. They emphasize the importance of meeting the financial and accommodation requirements and recommend visiting a local immigration office for the latest information. The cost for the extension is 1900 baht, while the re-entry permit costs 1000 baht for single and 3800 baht for multiple entries.

As you will enter on a single entry Non-O based on being over 50 (retirement), you will be stamped for 90 days upon entry into Thailand.

Then you will apply for a 1-year extension for the same reason (retirement) when your stamp remains 30 days or less (some immigration offices allow you to apply for an extension when you have 45 days or less remaining). Once you get a 1-year extension, you apply for a (multiple) re-entry permit to keep your extension when you travel out from Thailand. You can keep repeating the process every year as long as you meet the requirements.

You need to meet all requirements including financial, accommodation, etc, on the day of application.

This is the general information for retirement extension. You better go to the local immigration office as soon as you arrive here to get the latest requirements at that office, as detailed requirements vary by office.

Official fees regarding to the immigration office are:

extension: 1900 baht

re-entry permit: 1000 baht for single re-entry, 3800 baht for multiple re-entry

Also, check your embassy in Thailand whether they issue an affidavit of income for you. You can use it as proof of funds. If they don't, you have to open a bank account in Thailand and transfer funds to it 2 months before you apply for a 1-year extension <- This is what you need to check with the provincial requirements.
