IMMIGRATION OFFICE CLOSURES July and August 2023
Immigration offices nationwide will be closed on:
**Friday 28 July: H.M. King Maha Vajiralongkorn’s Birthday
Monday 31 July: Special Holiday <- added**
**Tuesday 1 August: Asalha Bucha
Wednesday 2 August: Khao Phansa Buddhist Lent Day**
Monday 14 August: Substitution for The Queen Mother Sirikit's Birthday & Mother's Day
Plan accordingly.
* Land borders are open like normal during holidays.
* Check before you go if there were other reasons for that border checkpoint to be closed
If you have a stamp that is expiring during holidays when the immigration offices are closed and you show up at the immigration office on the very next working day you will NOT be fined for overstay and can get your extension like normal. But you will get an overstay stamp in your passport that says; "overstay xxx days, fine waived due to holiday/closure".
TLDR : Answer Summary
The immigration offices in Thailand will be closed on several days in July and August 2023 due to public holidays. Notably, they will be closed for H.M. King Maha Vajiralongkorn’s Birthday (July 28), a special holiday (July 31), Asalha Bucha (August 1), Khao Phansa (August 2), and Mother's Day (August 14). Land borders will remain open during these holidays. If a visa stamp is expiring during the closure, individuals can visit the office on the next working day without incurring fines for overstays, but an overstay stamp will be noted in their passport.
