The Chicago consulate took less than one full week so six weeks doesn’t seem right. Maybe clear your cache or use a different browser or device? Not a likely resolution but worth a try. 🤷
You can save a significant amount of money if you obtain a non O visa before entering Thailand AND open your own bank account without an agent. Then paying an agent to do some bank magic and get your 12-month extension of stay will cost a lot less.
You might need a certificate of residency from immigration in order to open a bank account. I think all banks want this except you might not need it for Kasikorn.
