How much cash (USD) can I take out of Thailand?

Either with or without declaration

I worked here for a couple of years, have a work permit and all paperwork.

Not looking for Wise for saving some exchange rate difference.
Answer summary
When taking cash out of Thailand, the limits depend on whether you choose to declare the amount or not. If you declare, you can technically take out any amount. However, amounts over $15,000 USD must be declared as per regulations set by Thai Customs. If you do not declare and carry more than $10,000 USD, you may face issues during customs checks. It’s advisable to verify reporting requirements for your destination country as well.

It’s not departing Thailand with a large sum of money……it’s arriving in the USA with that large sum of money. Over $10.000 you need to declare. You dont want to fcuk with US CUSTOMS.

There may be reporting requirements however depending on what country you are traveling to. Best to check if there are limits taking money into country you are going to. Better yet is to transfer money if you have a bank account somewhere else possibly. Find out facts but do not depend on this forum for facts. Unsupported opinions can be troublesome. Go online to country and research out the facts.

$20k USD or more must be declared and you may be asked to prove the source of the cash. For Baht the limit is much lower

he is asking how much he can take OUT of Thailand, not how much he can bring INTO Thailand and from which limit on needs to be declared (which by the way is $15,000 USD and not twenty thousand)

correct, takin INTO and also OUT of Thailand. From a value of 15,000 USD on, you need to declare the import or the export to Thai Customs

the USA requires reporting over $10,000, it’s risky not to report but if you want to take the risk of losing it all to seizure then that’s your choice for not reporting.

James Green she is absolutely right it’s 10,000 and if you bring that much they’re gonna ask you a lot of questions. If you put it in your suitcase to scanner will find it if you put it on your body the scanner will find that. They found 8000 in my pocket on the scanner which was legal but they asked me a lot of questions about it
