Hi dear experts, Does anyone have a reliable source that the Thai customs authorities have reduced the limit for importing cash without declaration from $20,000 to only $15,000? Google (AI) still says both is correct but there were some screenshots here a few days ago where it stated only the limit of 15‘000 🤷🏻♀️
I am heading back to US and Returning in November. I plan on bringing the maximum cash with me. Will I have to declare 20000 US dollars and will I have to pay taxes on it. I do not stay more than 180days in Thailand. I plan on placing in my safe until there is a better exchange rate. Advice please and thank you. Please no rude comments as I see way too many on here. Greatly appreciated!
A brief question for content creators / media editors on DTV who bring their own video equipment for workation (by plane): did you go through the red lane and declare everything, or did you take the regular „nothing to declare” route like every other tourist does?
I know the theory, I’ve read Thai customs and agent’s websites. I know technically one should declare anything worth more than THB 20k, but in practice you don’t see every single foreigner declaring their freaking iPhones…
I'm being asked to send my original passport with FedEx to Thai Customs to clear my freight (our belongings to move here). I've already emailed a clear photo of the ID page and offered to get a certified copy (although not sure how here). They insist on original and will return within 3 days. Is it safe? Anyone done it?
UPS has notified me i need to show at 120 Years Building and register as an import agent or get an import license just to get a 2 Ib package of 40 personal single use eye drops, 2 boxes of just for men, and 2 UV BLOCKER sets of armsleeves my nephew sent me from my apartment in LA. Please, somebody who’s been though this, send the quickest most stress free method of navigating this. BESIDES Thai Customs, UPS is also trying to get paid extra in this process. I had no idea having a small box of personal provisions was gonna come to this. And if i choose to just not bother with this and walk away from less than $70 us worth of stuff, UPS’ charge is nearly $300 to “destroy” the package. You talk about a Catch-22!!! What does an Import License even cost, never mind there’s MORE steps to follow just to get this small quantity of my own personal hygiene products in hand.
Basically i ordered a phone overseas that via DHL and customs said to DHL that this requires an NBTC license, so DHL is unable to clear the item.
I asked NBTC they said can not issue an import license because this variant is not on their database. I asked to send it back NBTC said then I would need an export license.
NBTC said they can issue an export license to send to another country but DHL said no because it's stuck in customs.
I contacted my lawyer friend here and he said after making some calls that it would cost more than the item, 20K THB so not too pursue it.
I also contacted some brokers there only few said that they can clear it but with fees exceeding the price of the item.
