Do I need to provide a return flight for a Non-O visa application in Thailand?

More questions... Through the USA (Chicago consulate) I finally began filling out the online application for a non O visa (50+) but was surprised to see that I need to enter information for a return flight. I recall reading in this group that a return flight is not required for a non O retirement visa. Since I do not plan to leave Thailand at the end of the 90 days I really don't have a departure date. Do I need to book two one way flights with the return flight having an option to cancel or modify the date? I also see I need to enter a flight number in order to proceed with the application so I assume I can enter only the arrival flight? I recently read that somebody had their application denied because they failed to enter their middle initial. I definitely do NOT want to make ANY mistakes.

Thanks to all who offer good advice.

TLDR : Answer Summary
When applying for a Non-O retirement visa online, the application requires you to enter flight information, including a return flight within 90 days. Although immigration does not require proof of onward travel to enter Thailand, you need to provide flight details for processing the 90-day visa application. It's advised to choose an arrival flight and provide a flight number, but you're not obligated to purchase a return ticket.

totally irrelevant, topic is in regards to applying for and entering on a visa, as opposed to entering without a Visa.

Biodata not matching the passport will result in an immediate cancelled application, whereas missing documents or other minutea will trigger a document request. I think if you read the application carefully you will notice that it says intended or proposed date of arrival and departure.

Yep, thanks. Normally I wouldn’t miss that subtle info but I’m pretty anxious about filling it ALL out EXACTLY correct. So the financial part of the application reads:

“…having the current balance of 800,000 THB (e.g., bank statements for the last three months). My 800k will have been in the account for only two of the past three months. Is that a problem? Thanks.

you might want to use the search tool for the consulate you'll be using and see if you can glean their actual requirement. That said it does say current balance as opposed to continually maintaining the 800k. You could also write them in the email with topic such as non-o retirement 800k requirement, and briefly ask them how long they want to see it in the account for.

Good advice on emailing them. I have been staring at the term “current balance” for hours. Makes me think they want three months of proof of a bank account and the last month needs to show 800,000 THB.

Immigration does not require proof of onward travel to enter Thailand. But you are applying for a 90-day visa, so you must give them information for a flight leaving Thailand within 90 days. It doesn't ask you for a TICKET leaving Thailand, it just asks for a flight. Go find one and put it in.
