what about those who opened on a long term visa long time ago, their sim matches the ID of the account, and the person suddenly needs to go back home for family reasons and loses his Non-O. Do the bank block the account ?

They are not closing accounts, provided your SIM card's name matches your account name. I opened mine at Bangkok Bank around 10 years ago, funds were always transfered from my Swiss account. Clean clear...

And, BTW, some people wrote that if the phone number registered in your bank is not in your name, the bank will "close your account and keep the money"... FAKE ! the bank will just suspend the Mobile Banking...

USEFUL INFOS : regarding Name / Phone number : "Foreigners are required to present their passport when purchasing a True Mobile pre-paid SIM card in Thailand. This is because Thai regulations mandate that all SIM cards must be registered with the user's identification details, and for foreigners, a passport serves as the primary form of ID"
