UPDATE : it works with Skype !!!! Thank you all for your help !!! Buddha bless ! ;-)

HELP : BANGKOK BANK PHONE BANKING :

Hello, is there anybody who could help me : if you understands Thai well, and are currently OUTSIDE Thailand, could you please dial Bangkok Bank Customer Service Number : +66 2 6455 555 and press the key 2 : "for English language", and wait about 10 seconds to listen to the message in... Thai (unfortunately not in English...) and let me know roughly what they say ?

I am trying for days to reach them, but it is impossible... and I do not understand Thai enough to understand what they say when I call them... Calling from Switzerland...

THANK YOU SOOOOOO MUCH ! Happy New Year !

TLDR : Answer Summary
The community member sought assistance in reaching Bangkok Bank's customer service while located in Switzerland, due to language barriers. Users responded with various tips: some suggested using Google Translate, others recommended calling via Skype, and many shared their experiences of inconsistencies when calling from abroad. Ultimately, it was confirmed that calling through Skype worked successfully for the original poster, which helped them communicate with the bank.

To contact BBL Khaosarn Branch to inquire about your account at their branch, you can call direct to +66 2

I think there is a problem when calling from outside Thailand...

@Dana ******
Yes. So I went counter intuitive and pressed 1 to listen to the Thai language. I hope they only have one set of voice recording. If I remember correctly, you wanted to check your account balance. Instruction given in Thai to check account balance press *111. However, instruction in English to check the same is to press 1. Regardless, in both languages, press zero is for customer service.

Thank you Dear ! I have called through Skype and it worked ! Good to know for future ! Happy New Year ! ;-)

Happy New Year to you too.🥳🙏🤗

Hi Dana, I pressed 1 just calling from Thailand just to listen to the Thai language. If you want to contact Officer press 0 (zero). If you want to inquire about account balance press: *111

You will hear long message in Thai in the beginning. It is just a warning to customers against scammers’ calls or emails with malware.

When I left the country for ten months they stole the money I had in the account and closed the account. When I went in to ask what had happened they explained they wouldn't give the money back or open the acc unless I went to the branch I had opened the account in back up in Sisaket 550km away.

You were probably in.... Somalia :-D

I have an app the staff helped me setup when I opened my account. I highly recommend it. It’s way more user friendly than any I’ve used in my home country. If your on the phone with staff... try to set up and save yourself many headaches. You can pay most of your utilities and other bills through the app as well.

With Bangkok Bank, you cannot set up the Apps from abroad (I have tried last year by caling them...)... I am in Switzerland...

Try calling when its day time in Thailand. They have English operators at day time (again, thai time)

I cannot even reach the human operator... After the "Press 2 for English and the... Thai long message, it.. hangs up :-(
David *******
@Dana ******
that is what I am talking about, if you’re in Switzerland now and you were to call at this time, it is 7 pm here, so all the English speaking people are out already. The message probably says call at different time when it is office hours. So try calling when it is office hours in Thailand, and the English department is working.

Before 5 pm Bangkok time.

I've had the same problem calling from Bali during the past 9 months. I have to try quite a few times (sometimes only twice and sometimes have to call back another day), but eventually get English and can check my accounts. I have no idea why. Just checked my accounts again 3 days ago.

is it not an option to use the internet to check your bank accounts when you are not in Thailand? To be clear, I'm not speaking of the phone app, but rather the bank website?
Jim **********
@กะลาสี ****
I use iBanking on the BKK Bank website to check my local CM savings account and credit card accounts, but I can only check my direct deposit account with the NY Branch by calling the customer service number that Dana is trying to call. I've been doing this for almost 10 years.

Been getting through from Bali last year and again 3 days ago, but with multiple attempts.

Yes Dana, I was extremely fortunate to get "stranded" here in March and unable to return to Chiang Mai. And now I'm in no rush to get back.😄

Not sure if this makes a difference calling BKK Bank, but I have been calling them using Viber and like I said, I eventually get through to English.

I can’t think why an automated phone system cares where a person is calling from. It’s just a robot directing you to internal extensions or services. Perhaps it does. Maybe someone in the group can call them from overseas and see if they get the same as you. Alternatively message via Facebook.
Colin **********
I contact them quite alot and the number works for me.

Mistake in my POST only. I actually dialed the correct number...
Colin **********
@Dana ******
ok in that case I can't help you, as I say it works here
Colin **********
BTW you do have a modern "tone" dialing phone, not the old pulse dialing phone? The old phones would work if selected "2", its very unlikely

You're right. That's what I actually dialed indeed (have corrected my post). Still English does not work... Could this be because I am calling from abroad (Switzerland) ???

No idea english (button 2) worked for me fine, i am calling from Thailand

You can do this on Google translate too. There is a record function or 'speaker' function that might be helpful 😊🤞🏼
Stuart *********
If I understand the message correctly it says “Please use Siam Commercial Bank. Their customer service is sooo much better than ours”. Forgive me my Thai isn’t perfect so I may be off the mark. 😀
Stuart *********
Seriously they have a presence on Facebook. Why not message them and see if they can help.
