If you are under 50, not married to a Thai national and don't have any dependent children the DTV is a great option if you want to spend extended periods in Thailand.

With regards to bank accounts without a Tha one it would make life tricky but not impossible. A bank account with low or zero foreign transaction charges is the way to go. Kasikorn Bank has introduced an app that allows you to pay in foreign currency and scan to pay. There are also plenty of reports that some people have been able to open a Thai account on a DTV. So being polite and persistent may get you a Bank Account.

Unfortunately I don't know exactly what Surin immigration require to extend your visa exempt for 30 days. At my local immigration office it is a TM30, photocopies from your passport and a couple of passport photos of yourself. Ask for requirements when you do the TM30. There is a good chance that you will be able to do your extension at the same time.

Just thinking out of the box a little. I am not legally trained so you would need to take professional advice.

Why not just get married again in Thailand? You can swear the affidavit at the British Embassy because you are free to marry each other.

The same logic applies at the Amphur Office when you marry again.

I can't see how you are breaking any law because each of you remain married to one person.

Maybe worth checking out.

Great job and proof that with a smile, a good attitude and persistence you can achieve what others tell you is impossible in Thailand. 👍👍

we are probably splitting hairs now but that is the stamp a friend of mine recently got when he applied for a 30 day extension but was given 7 days instead. In his case it was only 5 extra days because he applied for a 30 day extension with 2 days remaining on his original permit to stay.

Thanks for sending this. 😊

unfortunately there is no such thing as a 7 day extension. When people talk of a 7 day extension it is actually a refusal. You are then given 7 days to leave Thailand.

As others have said if the OP will have no problem getting a 30 day extension if they don't have a long history of repeated extensions.
