Arrived December 7 - 2025 and leaving February 7 - 2026. In my calculation it a stay of 62 days. Someone else booked tickets on suggestion of my Thai girlfriend. Next time I will do myself because don't want to get in trouble 😊. I guess need to go immigration. Stay in Nonthaburi. Thanks for your help in advance. Hope there are normal answers because I ask a normal question.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is looking for advice on extending their stay in Thailand, as they initially planned for 62 days (from December 7, 2025, to February 7, 2026). They have received various suggestions from the community, including obtaining a 30-day extension at immigration, the risks of overstaying, and whether it is possible to apply for an extension based on their situation. There was some discussion about how to handle immigration procedures, whether to stay with a Thai partner, and the potential fees involved in overstaying.

I have same problem having booked ticket for 61 days. Staying in Bangsaray, can I just walk in to immigration in Jomtien or Rayong with ticket, passport and THB to complete 7-days extension or do I need anything else ? Thanks.

You could leave a few days earlier. Or, if that would mess up your return flight, take your gf to Phu Quoc for 3 days before 7th Feb. She'd probably quite like it.

Alright see if I can cover the basics

3 days prior you can fill in tdac it's free, if you get one a site that one payment it's a scam

Are you saying with her? In her house or you staying hotel? If you are in her house you guys need to go immigration to fill in tm30 (24 hours after you landed) if in hotel they take care of that (you going to need that when apply for extension)

If you staying with her as said, ask the immigration officer when is the earliest you can apply for extension since differ from office to office, some 45 days some 30 and a few 7 days prior.

Never ever think overstay is a good idea.

When applying for extension I'll add a photo for you so you know the basic requirements

I stay at her place. We didn't fill tm30. I mentioned it to her but was not necessary she said. Only extension is enough. We will do first week of January 2026

the TDAC has nothing to do with it. You want to avoid an overstay so go get the extension. Simple. No need for over complicating things.

if you want extension you need tm30, or you will get a fine on max 1600 baht. So this is what you do after you land, go to immigration get tm30 she need to bring blue book and photoid / copy of it signatures on both of them. Then just ask IO when you can come back to get your 30 day extension.

It's 63 days, so the only option is to buy an extension. I'm just surprised that this fact was not objected to at check-in at the departure point.

My departure was from Amsterdam. Maybe they didn't noticed or maybe thought that I might travel to another country in between and departure again from BKK. Just guessing 😊

Maybe depends on the airline, but Etihad asks for a visa when checking in online, as the length of stay is visible on the tickets. Anyway, you're going to do the right thing.

Or, if the OP is close to the border, spend a few days somewhere else and get a new 60 day stamp when returning

that's complete nonsense. A 30-days extension is cheaper than a trip to Vietnam

he needs two days not a 30 day extension and you don’t know that he isn’t coming back soon for another visit and might want a 30 day extension then.

He didn’t ask for the cheapest option so no I don’t think it is nonsense! Thanks

it would be a fine of 1500 THB for the 3-days overstay. So the 1900 THB for the extension cover this event and he avoids overstay. Now tell me how much he needs to pay for flying to Vietnam and then back to Thailand

who cares what he has to pay that’s his call and I provided a valid option? It’s an experience and another place to see.

Given the changes going on with immigration I wouldn’t want to waste a 30 day extension when all I needed was a two days especially if he might be returning to Thailand and want an extension. I also wouldn’t do what you seem to imply overstaying and just paying the fine because it is cheaper than the extension cost.

You shouldn’t be so hung up on money - spend some money and enjoy!

59 days after the 7th Dec is 4th February (day 1 is your day of entry)

Without an extension it would cost you 1,500 baht in overstay fees and a stamp saying you overstayed.

Way better to pay 1,900 baht and get the official extension and not have any issues nor overstay stamps.

if he applies for an extension, his application will be approved and he would be issued a 30-days extensin on top of the 60 days. . . . . . The "7-days extension" gets only granted on Non-Imm visa classes, they will be stamped like "application to extension denied, you have 7 days to leave the kingdom". Tourists cannot receive these 7 days grace period

In fact, people who have already received a 30-day extension on a previous visa-exempt entry this year have, in some cases, only been granted a 7-day extension on their second visa-exempt entry later on.

yes, of course. On the second 60 days of a visa-exempt entry after having received a 30-days extension on a previous visa-exempt 60 days, you can only expect a 7 days extension . .I have never said anyting different

unfortunately there is no such thing as a 7 day extension. When people talk of a 7 day extension it is actually a refusal. You are then given 7 days to leave Thailand.

As others have said if the OP will have no problem getting a 30 day extension if they don't have a long history of repeated extensions.

This is not correct, there’s in fact also a 7 days tourist extension in addition to the regular extension denied stamp.

we are probably splitting hairs now but that is the stamp a friend of mine recently got when he applied for a 30 day extension but was given 7 days instead. In his case it was only 5 extra days because he applied for a 30 day extension with 2 days remaining on his original permit to stay.

Thanks for sending this. 😊

you are confused with recent changes. Immigration can issue a 7 day extension however in op post he would be given a 30 day extension. Same price 1900b.
