ORIGINAL POSTERI understand that someone on a tourist visa can’t open a bank account here. It’s the same as the Philippines.
Is there any problem using my Philippine bank account here?
Also, in order to access my USA pension, I will have to fly to the Philippines and make a transfer from one bank account to another. Crazy.

ORIGINAL POSTERI opened a Bank Account with only DTV Visa. I spoke to them in Thai and explained my situation and my plans in Thailand. I needed to go to 8 branches in North Thailand. I also had a Thai driver license, rent lease, a very clean passport and I dressed appropriately. It is possible if you put alot of effort in to it

ORIGINAL POSTERIs there a minimum age for a Thai to open a bank account ? Want to give daughter a allowance that only she can access .

ORIGINAL POSTERIt's already been 3 months since DTV launched.
All DTV visa holders are still having trouble opening bank accounts here.
I emailed all the banks every week and there were no updates from the bank of Thailand. I guess we just pay agents to do this 😭😭

ORIGINAL POSTERAnyone here run a UK bank account linked to an Expat account. Sadly I'm with HSBC and their advice (such that it has been) was shocking. Called in at HSBC Bangkok as advised only to be told they don't do private/expat banking anymore 🤷♂️

ORIGINAL POSTERHas anyone found a bank in Khanom, Surat Thani or Nakhon Si Thammarat that allowed tourists on UK Multi Entry Tourist (METV) to open a bank account. We are under 50 but would like an account for when we are over 50 and we are eligible for the "retirement visa", sorry I'm unsure of the correct label for this visa. Thanks 🙏
