I opened a Bank Account with only DTV Visa. I spoke to them in Thai and explained my situation and my plans in Thailand. I needed to go to 8 branches in North Thailand. I also had a Thai driver license, rent lease, a very clean passport and I dressed appropriately. It is possible if you put alot of effort in to it

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user successfully opened a Thai bank account using only a DTV visa, sharing the challenges faced in visiting multiple branches and highlighting the importance of effort, language skills, and appropriate appearance. The community discusses the feasibility and risks of maintaining such accounts, especially with a DTV visa, which is perceived as a tourist visa.
If you go to enough branches, you will eventually find one that doesn't know a DTV is a tourist visa. I opened my first bank account with a visa-exempt stamp. The girl said she needed a photocopy of my visa, so I pointed to the entry stamp on my passport. I still have this account. It helps to be outside of popular tourist areas.
maybe, the banker did not know yet that DTV can not open an account or misunderstood it. So, once they find out your account, they can freeze or close it immediately. Be aware of this at any time.
I went in with a wife beater & a set of Crocs on and opened a bank about with Bangkok Bank with no issue. Dressed appropriately, give yourself a shack 🤣🤣🤣
yes but not blindly. Since when the banks closed our account without any good reason and prior notice? banks are not a part of government. And even a government can not do this so.
KYC. Know your customer. It's why so many people's accounts were frozen and why anyone's bank account is at risk if they don't meet the current bank requirements to keep a bank account. The bank will periodically ask you for your documents showing that the person using the account is who they claim to be and will reverify everything.
