I’ll probably get hammered for this but

I wouldn’t get involved with anyone with dementia who I didn’t love with all of my heart. It’s not your responsibility. Assuming you want to just help him get home and into adult social services when he lands. That’s not going to be easy.

If you do want to help him do this I’d advise against taking him to your home. Ever. And dont expect any loans to be paid back. So don’t use your own money.

Contact his wife again maybe for starters. How was he funding his retirement? Get a photo of his passport and visa stamp. Try and dig about the financials.

You do the awkward queue shuffle. Sometimes you see other people do it.

It’s not always possible though.

Rather than calling him multiple names behind your anonymity why not just say why you think he’s wrong?

I’ll preface by saying I don’t know whether it’s illegal or now but two seconds on google suggests it is unless I’m missing something

Yeah. I did mine in Thailand and it took about 5 minutes. After the wait of course.

What do the agents actually do?

I printed out some documents and sat in immigration for an hour. It was really that simple. It seems to me an agent couldn’t make it any simpler than it was.

To get my TM30 all I had to do was ask for one.

I went yesterday. First time.

TM7 for application of temporary stay.

TM8 for application for reentry permit.

Although because I went in the afternoon, by the time I got my TM7 processed the officer told me the desk for reentry permit was closed.

You can be purposefully ignorant of a lot of widely understood expectations in Thailand and still get things done.

You’re not beating the system by doing that. You’re confirming a stereotype.

I did the same. Printed the wise transfer receipts and presented them with the other paperwork when I changed visa in Bangkok.

I’ve no idea if they were necessary but they took them as part of my package when I changed visa in Bangkok.

For the extension of stay several months later (yesterday) I had them in my folder again but didn’t present them. They didn’t ask.

(Marking them as funds for long term stay made no difference how Krungsri categorised them.)
