Hi all, slightly niche advice needed here.

My Husbands uncle is 84 and has been in Thailand for over 20 years. We have had very limited contact with him over the years and very little information on his living arrangements.

We were contacted by what we thought was his wife saying he has dementia and he needs to come back to the UK. It's been mentioned because of this his retirement visa won't be extended?

Would anyone have any advice on this? We have no idea of any Thai legalities, visas ect or if he has any way to Fund any care over there or in the UK. All I know is we are unable to financially support him at all.EDIT It is not that we don't care, we barely know this man, I believe he would rather stay in Thailand, why go back to a village in the UK with no living relatives on your own? If we could afford to bring him back and thats what he wanted, we would.

Moving to Thailand next year, but I cannot decide on where to call home. My elderly father is coming with me, so we want to be near great hospitals. Cannot decide between Changmai (burning season worries me) and the burbs of BKK. Any input?

I Have an elderly bedridden relative coming to stay in a nursing home here. If you've got a trustworthy, reliable agent in BANGKOK who's really helped you, please recommend here. I need to start the research in getting a retirement visa .

This question gets so much spam it is making searching a pain in the ass. Elderly aunt has decided to relocate here so she can be around people who care for her final years. She is not very mobile so I want to avoid as much travel as possible. This means hopefully avoiding going to the embassy in the USA or here. I'd like to get her here on a tourist visa, get everything together, and get her moved over to a retirement visa. What is the "correct" answer for getting the bank account opened? I saw one post that looked like you could get some sort of letter of intent from immigration to bring to the bank?

What is the attitude of Thailand regarding farang retiring here to pass? Like, not the guys who go broke and want to do weird shit before hopping out hotel windows, but just like really old/sick people?

My mother is in Thailand at present, she thought her platinum credit card covered her for travel insurance but it doesnt, anyone know if she can at least get a medical cover whilst she is over there?

She is 85 from UK and I have tried to get her cover from UK but can’t find anything as most companies only cover already travelled if below the age of 74!

Thanks in advance.

Long story but looking for advice. I married my Thai wife in 1978. I’m retired and we live on my pension plus both of us receive social security benefits. My wife had a stroke 2 years ago. Not much physical damage but she has lost most of her ability to use and understand English. There is some loss of Thai language but after a year of struggling with communication (I speak very little Thai) she flew to Thailand to stay with her niece near Chaiyaphum. It allowed me to continue working as a contractor then I joined her in Thailand for 2 months in June this year. I returned to USA and went back to work with the plan for her to return home in October. When she got home I left work to stay home with her. She has now been diagnosed with dementia. Her agitation is somewhat controlled with medication but it’s getting worse. The doctor has recommended I start looking for a care facility but it would be impossible to find something here where she could communicate with caregivers plus they are really expensive. I’m looking for suggestions for visa for myself that would allow me to stay with her in Thailand as long as possible if I can find a suitable facility there. Thanks for any help.

Advice needed. I am thinking of bringing my elderly (86) mother to live with me in Thailand. I am currently on non O extension based on over 50 and retired and living in Mahasarakham.

Does she need a visa of her own or can she piggyback mine as she will be dependent on me,
