What is the process for submitting TM-30 and 90-day reporting when leaving and returning to Thailand?

UGH! Dealing with the constant effort even just to maintain the retirement visa is such a pain in the arse!!

1. Am I misinformed or is it correct that if you leave Thailand and return you need to resubmit another TM-30 even if you’re returning to the same address that you had when you departed and show your passport along with the revised TM-30?

It makes no sense! I can’t even see a date on the TM-30 my Condo Jurist just provided to me so how would anyone be able to tell that it’s a revised form, or just a copy of the one I had before and I’m just showing them what they already have.

2. The day someone returns to Thailand, it resets their 90 report clock, right? So if I was supposed to report at the end of April, now it’s the end of July, right?

2,A. At the end of this month I’m moving anyway. So I will be getting a new TM-30 with a new address again. Does this mean I will have to go through this entire process again and show immigration my new TM-30 with my passport or do I wait and report on the new 90 day date with my TM-30 showing my new address?

This is all making Albania sound SO good! An American can show up with just a passport and stay for 12 months, that’s it! No BS along the way. Leave for 90 days and the 12 months starts all over again.

I know. I am hear you all saying, “Well move to Albania then!”

TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster is frustrated with the complexities of maintaining a retirement visa in Thailand, particularly regarding the TM-30 form submission and the 90-day report timeline upon returning to Thailand. They express confusion about whether they need to resubmit a TM-30 upon returning to the same address and whether their 90-day reporting clock resets after leaving the country. Several comments clarify that a TM-30 is often required upon re-entry, and the 90-day reporting period resets when returning to Thailand, suggesting that handling these tasks may be simpler than the poster perceives.

I had no problem or questions when I returned. I do have a multiple entry stamp. Not sure if that matters

Seems that all these people forget that if it was a Thai going their country the hoops the Thai would have to jump through. These processes are what Thailand require of us, deal with it.

Go to Albania, the only country in Europe with roads almost as dangerous as Thailand's.

All really not a big deal and a lot can be done Online. Especially if you own your Accommodation and never leave Thailand.

I understand that People can get confused at first, so for those People an Agent might be a good solution. Personally I would recommend everyone to do such simple things themselves. Keeps you independent and you will feel less Lost in those Rules. They really are not that difficult. I don't understand the People that just ignore the Rules. For me that's not OK. Back in our Home Countries we would not look kindly at Foreigners that ignored, on purpose, the Rules.

Somehow now that the Shoe is on the other Foot many think it's s OK.... strange.

How I deal with my TM30 / 90 day report. My visa agent in Chiang Mai is sent a reminder on the LINE app from me every 3 months. They then renew my 90 day for me - usually within 48 hours. Then they send it to me as a JPEG image to my phone on LINE. I don’t even pay for it. All part of the service they provide me for renewal of my retirement visa (which is once annually). That’s literally IT.

Yes, I use an agent as well that does all of this for me but this is the first time I have left the country, now it seems the agent would rather confuse me by not answering my questions on WhatsApp and tells me

To come into her office and she will answer the questions there. $22 $Grab round trip which isn’t the issue. I Just want her to answer the questions I have, eliminate the confusion and tell

Me what, if anything I need to do!

Processes are exactly what they are in Thailand. If you don’t want stress use an agent.

TM30 can be done by Juristic, just confirm with them it’s done.

If in a hotel they should lodge TM30 on your behalf.

90 day report only if in Thailand for the 90 days.

90 days reporting duration resets upon returning to 🇹🇭

Your choice to go to whatever country you like; all have different rules and requirements.

1. Recommended to get your TM30 updated. But you don’t have to go “submit” it to immigration every time. Just ask the juristic person to update the record. Many people don’t even do that, travel within Thailand or even overseas and then come back and don’t update the TM30. Seems to be okay.

2. Yes, when you return to Thailand, the new 90 day clock starts. If you don’t leave Thailand again in the 90 days, go to immigration and do your 90 day report. Usually takes 15-30 min for the queue.

2A: you only have to go do your 90 day report. You don’t have to report to immigration every time you change your address.

Albania is great but it’s not Thailand 😁

I'm confused about who you are showing your TM30 and passport to? The TM30 is the report. There's no need to do anything else after that.

Most immigration offices do require a new TM30 when returning from outside of Thailand. Some even require a new TM30 when returning from somewhere inside of Thailand. It's usually done online and takes all of 30 seconds to do.

And yes, a 90 day report is for 90 consecutive days inside of Thailand. If you leave Thailand, you're no longer in Thailand on consecutive days. You start counting again from day 1 when you return.
