actually opening a bank account is now the most difficult part of the process, you are correct i think I did show funds before converting to an O, long time ago

Some immigration offices will allow you to change a tourist or exempt to an O visa which is valid for 3 months. As soon as you've done this you should be able to open a bank account, deposit your funds, when seasoned go back to immigration for 1 year extension based on retirement.

Contact the embassy, you will need an emergency travel document

Once you're in Thailand go & speak to your local immigration office. You may be able to change to an O dependant visa there. You will need to have your marriage licence legalised & translated to be able to do this.

This happened to us last year. We were told by immigration it's better to leave as going on overstay could affect visa extensions in the future. There is no way for them to give you any kind of exceptional extension as you have no passport. We were on the verge of applying for an emergency travel document with our embassy when the passport arrived.

Honestly it's very hard to say, you'll probably spend more in your 1st month than your last 2 months combined. There are alot of factors which affect your budget, the area, if you want basic or luxury, how much Thai food you eat, if you rely on air-conditioning . It is possible to live for less than your budget or blow that in 1 month.

Things you haven't considered are health/travel insurance & visa related fees.

The more you move about & the more touristy the area the more expensive life becomes.

Hm well logic says if your buying a bike & it isn't put in your name then the previous owner could claim it's still theirs. You will obviously have difficulty in reselling & shouldn't expect to get fair market price. If you are selling it & can't find the documents to do the transfer etc then you will get any tickets & might have a problem if it's used illegally or in any accident. As you would still be the legal owner I guess you would be liable for the tax.
