You only need a local bank account if you want to stay longterm in Thailand with a non-immigrant visa as a retiree.

I do it myself aswell. My landlady is glad not having to bother with it every time I travel around in Thailand and then come back. This happens at least every month several times.

You only need an updated TM30 if you want something from immigration (like CoR or extension etc.) or want to do the 90 days report online.

According to the answer you gave that somehow their system doesn‘t update your residence address although you even have the correct tm30 slip from immigration (if I inderstood you correctly) this means you will have to continue showing up in person, unfortunately. A lot of my fellow expats experienced this as well. TiT
