Over the decades, I've know two people with adopted or step Thai sons that wouldn't travel to Thailand after turning 18. I believe they could after a number of years...but I'm not certain. My naturalized US citizen daughter also looked into this while considering getting her son a Thai passport and chose not to (I can't recall the particulars.)

Very good idea for anyone considering this to get professional advice....might indeed not be a problem but one wouldn't want to find out otherwise years later.

If one of the children is a boy…parents should be aware of future Thai Army draft considerations.

Graham Seal I know the 60 day visa exemption + 30 day extension encourages farang/Thai snow bird couples to spend a lot more time and money in the provinces.

Yes they can get visas but it’s even easier to cut trips shorter.

SunnyFlamingo559 I’m pretty sure it’s a visa overstay/working illegally problem.

Hari BO I believe he’s also eligible for a 60 day family visit extension.

Solution…go through the Thai passport line with your wife!

I would argue that would depend on the spouse.

Big fan of Google voice…I use it a lot for 2FA and calling back to the US.

I'm a retired SNCO and my Thai wife has lived in the states for 37 years...there're ZERO legal/acceptance problems if you follow the rules but sadly obtaining the visa will be slowed because of other's fraud.

In fact, your most frequent problem will be people trying to invite themselves to your home for an authentic Thai dinner. Don't listen to these hysterical partisans.

BTW...best of luck to you and your wife. Hope you two become a very close team and build a happy family!
