Please do plenty of research regarding bringing a dog to Thailand. I think some requirements are challenging so it’s best to be well informed. Obtaining a non O visa before entering Thailand will assure you 90 consecutive days to explore your needs.

Others can correct me or add info but if you arrive with a 90-day non O visa, rent a room someplace, get a Thai phone number AND documentation from the SIM provider that shows affiliation of the cell number with your passport, go to immigration with proof of address of your rented room (form TM30) and get a certificate of residence then opening a bank account “should be” fairly easy. If you prefer not to have 800,000 Baht of your own deposited in a Thai bank that’s where a good agency comes in.

Ignore all the drivel about “if you can’t afford it then don’t come”…

The best combination is to obtain a 90-day non O visa BEFORE coming to Thailand, then open a bank account on your own right away. This will save you about 20,000 baht if you hire a good agent to do the bank magic later and also 12-month extension for you.

In my experience Kasikorn opened an account for me without a certificate of residence from immigration but Krungsri would not.
