@Sharon ******
Hi Sharon. The CPP and OAS person I talked to at Cdn Govt told me they would not send me a PDF statement and thst they only use Canada Post. So, I waited and waited and waited. Nothing. The ONLY problem I had and it was a big one is that the CPP and OAS letters didn't come. I phoned them many times, put on hold, disconnected, etc. They claimed no record of them going to send me confirmation of pensions and finally they said, "Oh, we can only mail to a Canadian address." So that killed it. What I have ended up doing was to put in 800,000 THB into an account and I have my Retirement Visa on that basis. The only advice I could give you then would be to get anything mailed to a Cdn address and forwarded to you in Thailand.

People say $900 US a month is unreal, but yes that could well be the cost if you are in your 70's. And it isn't Thai companies that are charging this, but international ones. A good suggestion I read here is to have a whacking but deductible, but keep that deductible amount (100-250,000 baht) in an account. As I ammon my 70's also I will do this and have the insurance to cover major events', not rashes and colds.

The more "pedantic" (?) and detailed your answer the better! Thank you all the time.

@Kool ******
With us in Udon, one man came and interviewed our neighbour/family friend who we had arranged to come over. The IO asked her how long she had known us, etc. He then had pictures taken of my wife and I and friend in front of our house number and one picture with him in front if the number too. We showed him around the outside if the house, but he didn't go inside. All tolled less than a half hour.

I have a British passport and I'd like to take my Thai wife with me to visit my English family in good old Yorkshire. Does anyone know if getting a British Visitor's visa for her would be problematic (lots of travel with me around Asia and Canada, no criminal convictions etc, owns a rice farm and house in Udon, 2 grown up childen and Ma and Pa in Udon )?
